LOVE AND GLORY

XLVII.

Beyond the stirring heart's

     A source,

And underneath a flame's

     A fire.

In my heart, a flame, a fire, of course!

The only one ~

Is always

     You!

Your voice is home.

Lovely little bird

First hovering

On a winter twig,

Tests wings too fragile

For the bitter wind,

Becomes stronger

Listening to the cues of life

Too few have ever heard,

Making winter covering,

Though still as tiny,

Inside is growing big.

Pegasus leaping

Through ethereal realms

His mare, the sea, the mist - or me!

In beauty, grace - profound,

Unfolding timelessly.

Inexpressible ~

        Joy!

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

Liquid streams of dreams made true,

Dancing ballets on my bed,

Playing symphonies of blue

Upon the themes within my head.

Love

Is all of this - and more.

Love

Is all of this - it's you!

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

You arouse in me

Gentle, mellow feelings

Which flow between us -

Easily.

I experience you

As Earth, when thirsty,

Absorbs the mist

Of morning dew.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

The winged feet of love

Carry me to palaces

Of heart's delight.

Crystal windowed,

Draped in silk,

Scented by

Rare essences

To share with my love

The elixir of joy.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

They didn't shortchange you

When passing out

The eyes of blue!

You shouldn't

Look at me that way.

I may not swim

That well!

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

Amorphous,

     Global

        Universal,

               Love power.

        Yet permeating nothing

    But its own self

In everything

   That is.

       How good

                To be it.

       And to know it

Without trying.

      ______© Nellieanna H. Hay

A mind-reader

I am not

At least, where you are concerned,

Nor need I be.

It's all expressed upon your face,

It's there for me to see,

Reading my own response

Is all that's needed now.

For that,

A little time.

       ______© Nellieanna H. Hay

You exude

A rare kindness

Only found

In gentle men.

Thank you, kind sir.

Your gentleness,

I treasure.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

When all the world's awhirl,

You are restfulness

And patience.

When I'm unsure

Which way to go

Whatever it must be.

The sharing of your dreams with me

Means more than you may know.

It is you, yourself

Who makes it so,

My pearl.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

You needn't worry, ever.

I always, all ways know

Inside your heart,

For it's a part

Of mine,

And shall be severed,

Never.

______© Nellieanna H. Hay

Distant drums resound

      With passion's pulse,

           Drown out the doubts

                 And integrate

           All nature

     Into

Life.

             ______© Nellieanna H. Hay

Seared and severed,

Ripped apart

And finished?

Never!

In my heart

Forever new,

My total,

Irrevocable

Love for you!

This is my favorite Hub by you to my memory!!

This is so lovely! You are so graceful, uplifting, and full of life. Your soul is beautiful, clearly.

My favorite poem was:

The winged feet of love

Carry me to palaces

Of heart's delight.

Crystal windowed,

Draped in silk,

Scented by

Rare essences

To share with my love

The elixir of joy.

Your words tell so much of your resilient heart!

DRBJ - I'm always swept away when my wiry old japonica bush begins its glorious blooming in February! It started earlier, but our deep freeze got to even it - but it is so determined, it's come back and may be even more prolific! When it's in FULL bloom, I must add more pictures!

I love Casablanca and "As Time Goes By". I was too young for it when the movie came out, but I remember a very romantic scene on the screened-in porch of the house at the ranch, with my brother, then about 19, dancing with our beautiful cousin (who was about 16) to that music, which he had rigged up a radio to get. She and her sister had been raised by their paternal grandmother in Kansas when both parents died when they were little. The grandmother had died and Laura came to stay with us and to start to college in the fall. Her sister was already old enough to be out on her own. I'm afraid my brother & Laura fell in love; but, of course, it was unthinkable, being such close relatives, but they had a rapport all the rest of their lives, though each of their lives went different ways. Their romance really impressed a little kiddo like I was.

Give me Dooley Wilson any time.

Nellie, how do you manage to read my innermost thoughts?

But I am afraid I am going to have to challenge that certain young man to a duel. I decided as soon as I read it that this was going to be my favourite:

The winged feet of love

Carry me to palaces

Of heart's delight.

Crystal windowed,

Draped in silk,

Scented by

Rare essences

To share with my love

The elixir of joy.

If I say that it is "lush" Nellie, I think you will understand what I am alluding to, and here you have really touched deep inside.

I am afraid it it isn't a duel, I will have to share it with Ben; and you, of course.

As for reading thoughts, well - I guess I'm found out. ;->

Did you know that Dooley Wilson was born in Tyler, Texas - just down the road from Dallas? Of course it was before my time. He was born in 1886. I wanted to use his rendition on the hub, but the one with the actual scene is disabled for embedding and the pictures with the Sinatra u-tube were great. Here is the link to the Dooley Wilson one - just for you! Njoy! The scene is so wonderful!

So beautiful, Nellianna. I do hope that you will collect all of your art and poetry and musings in a book to leave this behind as your legacy. The world is in my view, sometimes, so cold and yes, even ugly, so any little bit of beauty, peace, kindness we can leave behind makes a difference. This is one reason why I appreciate art, uplifiting writings, music and the inner soul of everyone.

Nellieanna profile image

VioletSun - I'm busily trying to transcribe the poetry to my computer from their handwritten state. There are many, though. 705 transcribed to date and it's a mere dent. But yes - I would like to get them together as my legacy. I agree that bits of beauty and kindness improve the complexion of the world; - but it doesn't require poetry or art, though they are effective. But it comes from the hearts of people who care in so man ways.

Thank you for that lovely appreciation of my efforts.

Genna -- I love your astute comments, especially mentioning that my simple words have significant effects on the reader, where all the real inspiration resides, - but, sadly, where it is not always ignited, perhaps, whether it is of, as you mention, discover and perspective or, in this collection, - the feelings of love. Thank you!

Yes, RB - that is of the comfort in love. Passion is the hilltop, but it is the quiet of comfort in each other's presence which keeps it alive and nourishing.

Even after he's been gone over two years, and even though he had begun to dwindle much for a time before that, still, thinking of him feels safe and good. I had no idea how much I'd miss it.

I have come to visit my resident poet. She uplifts my heart and shines a light into the darkest recess of my soul. All my compliments keep overflowing each time I arrive here and smell the aroma of your beautiful flowers and verse combining into heaven's garden.

You are an Angel with such sweet and beautiful melodies. I am lost for words with your enchantment. Simply beautiful, I loved them all. Hugs from me to you.

BTW love that new pix of you in white along with your pixie smiling yet devilish smile. Wink, wink. he he

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 5 years ago from TEXAS Author

Aw, Ken - I'm so honored! Just when I think I'm probably getting boring with the same-old-same-old formula - poetry - art - music, then you come by and make it seem just the right thing. Anyway - it's moi and what else can I do? I can never just leave stuff "plain", even when the words are minimal.

And that picture, thank you for the compliment! -Yeah - I'm a bit of a devilish pixie. I confess. hehehe. wink, wink. ;-> And there are my stuffed animals in it, though right now it's just one up there. Strawbeary is always there. He makes a good headrest too.

But I'm getting keyed in to thinking I need to de-clutter my house! I remember when my mother looked around hers and said "Everything I see, I love" - but it was sometimes hard to see what-all was there to be beheld, for all the clutter! haha. I didn't intend to "turn into my mother" but sometimes I seem to have. haha. The hard part will be deciding what to chuck and how to dispose of that "beloved clutter".

But it's a good time to think about it, since I'm expecting California houseguests in a few weeks! Would be nice to surprise them with a more navigable house than they've encountered here before. haha. But at least - nothing will be too big a surprise if it is still on the cluttered side!

Actually it's not that bad - but there is more than one reason I've been sleeping right here on the den couch (where I'm seated in that picture)! Because my bed upstairs is covered with keepsakes from my parents' stash!!! eeeeek. And before they are put away - I need to clean the walk-in closet from which I took them - which can't be walked in very far at present. So you see - my work is cut out for me.

OH boy. Partly all that was to mention that I must start working on the house and (ugh) taxes and may be less often on here. But of course - I will be here a lot anyway. There is always my usual 'last minute fire-drill marathon' for getting the house in order before the company arrives! grin.

Hello Nellieanna.

Such a bold and unrestricted an aim to unlimited, rather richly demonstrated abstract entity sleeping within a person waiting...

One have to come back to this poem to rediscover that love never hurts, contrary love aggrandizes endlessly at our willingness to share.

Voted awesome.

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 21 months ago from TEXAS Author

Dear Maita (prettydarkhorse) ~ Thank you! I appreciate your good opinion! This hub is one of my earlier ones, so it’s gratifying to still enjoy it and share it with treasured friends who enjoy it, too!

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 21 months ago from TEXAS Author

Michael-Milec, dear friend ~ Yes, that sleeping abstract entity does dwell within each person. Thank you for mentioning that!

Love, life, truth all have in common the trait that whatever comes with them or follows them, can be wonderful building blocks for 'growing' one’s best self.

In that sense, how can they hurt, even if their temporary effect may seem to do so, when one is yet learning? You are right that love’s gifts develop and expand with our willingness to welcome it and pass it along!

Thank you for the vote!

shanmarie profile image

shanmarie 21 months ago from Texas

To know a love like that. . .sigh. . .you are blessed. Many only dream and some no longer do that. You had a real-life fairy tale, it seems. Though, I do believe it exists in ways manifested differently in friendships and other relationships as well as between lovers.

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 21 months ago from TEXAS Author

Yes I was blessed. It is a blessing to know that love. When it happens, one just feels transformed. And there is no way to 'cause' it to happen. It's not just what the other person feels toward oneself (or even if they do), but that miraculous feeling of having it within oneself toward someone.

George related to me after he'd felt it how it happened for him. He was driving to a plant in central Texas to check on their efficiency and he said he suddenly said out loud in the car, alone, "I love her! I love her!"

That is not something one can will to be or cause to happen. Even if one loves people in a philia, altruistic or even an agape sense, to experience that feeling of total caring for and blending together with the person, whether or not even able to BE together, is surely the highest, most wonderful experience a human can have. It's not just in the erotic situations, but also with one's child or some kind of soul mate. It's total. It's a gift, just to feel it, and once felt, nothing else can be mistaken for it and it can't be felt to be lacking.

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 17 months ago from TEXAS Author

Oh, Ed. It's gratifying to know that my shared words touch people. I tend to think more of one-on-one touching, rather than broad-spectrum audiences, if you know what I mean. I don't even depend on or expect them to be acknowledged, long as I feel reciprocality that is 'in there' (like the sauce is in the spaghetti). I much prefer real spontaneity to wishful or demanding expectation. When it's expressed spontaneously, as you have, it's most touching & gratifying.

If I ever published a book, it would be for my family and friends. This has to do with what these words ARE, which is personal. But as I see that they do often fit others' personal situations, too, - yes, it adds other dimensions.
