Last Night's Blunder!
It was night, I thought of writing a poem,
comfortably sat on a chair,
Be it a love poem, a poem of fun or sorrow
- I didn't really care.
Many themes had entered my head,
It would be so easy to write!
My pen would run so fast on paper,
I wouldn’t stop for a nail bite.
Soft music in the background
enhanced my writing mood,
Should I think of the title first?
Well, I thought that idea was good.
I closed my eyes to think of a title
and that was the blunder I made,
My eyes were heavy, I fell asleep,
resting on the desk my head.
My wife woke me up and said,
‘For God’s sake now go to bed,
What you need is a good night’s sleep,
tomorrow you write instead.’
Next morning I could not recollect
the theme of the poem I had in mind,
My wife understood my sadness,
she cheered me up, she was so kind!
She said “ All your last night’s thoughts
May well re-enter your head,
I smiled at my wife, with a cup of tea
sat beside her on the bed.
She said ‘ You need to arrest your thoughts
as soon as they come to your mind,
And give a title at the end, my dear,
that will be easy you will find.’
My wife’s advice made good sense,
she takes interest in what I write,
Seldom I don’t agree what she suggests
Very often her ideas are bright.
I now carry a Notebook and pen,
No matter where I go,
Thoughts may come and disappear quickly
You just never know!
Last night’s episode was sad, it is true,
but gave me some food for thought,
To write a poem about the episode itself
would be an another plot
