Let me...A Love Poem

Let me dance with you again

And remember what was way back when

In the days of a long lost past

When we thought we would always last

Let me hold you close this moon filled night

In my arms you feel so right

As though the years have disappeared

Now that you have appeared

Let me whisper softly in your ear

How glad I am to see you here

How your beauty fills my eyes

Filling my heart with forgotten sighs

Let me gently touch your face

Remembering a forgotten time and place

When everything was truly golden

Before our trust was harshly broken

Let me gaze into your eyes once more

Always been you who I adore

No one else has had my heart

In the years we have been apart

Let me linger here for a while

In the warmth of your carefree smile

Just for a moment I will pretend

That this night will never end

Let me taste the sweetness of your kiss

A long forgotten bliss

That fills my soul with tears

For all the lost years

Let me touch the softness of your skin

As my heart races and my head spin’s

To have you warp your arms tight

Is such a bittersweet delight

Let me love you one more time

Remembering when you were mine

And in the breaking of a new day

Perhaps in my arms you will stay

Nighthag, I feel the ache that threads thru this poem, the acknowledgement of regret mixed with pure pleasure in the moment,a moment that will probably slip away. Beautiful!

rmjudkins 5 years ago

Nighthag, those of us who have ever experienced lost love can relate to this beautiful, poetic expression of a melancholic heart.

Your Poetry Plays like a Dance...It flows oh so well Nightag. Lost Love, I've been there...Sometimes it works again and sometimes you just need to walk away with your Memories. Beautiful Read.

What a beautiful poem, so graceful, so heartfelt. Isn't it ironic how love hurts and thrills, intoxicates, enchants, and chokes all at the same time? Stellar write.

Not of your acknowledge genre I was expecting a vampire or at least some bite marks at the end of the poem :) I had to go back to read it once more to experience the charm and romance sans the suspense. Naughty...lol

I know its not my normal genre, perhaps I should have placed a warning at the top :)

However I am pleased that you liked it despite the lack of vampires and the like, I promise something with a bit more bite soon :)

What a beautiful let me love you dance, I can feel her in my arms as we slowly slide across the dance room floor, eyes intense and both hearts beating to the same beat. The music lingers with us as we step into the past in each others arms. A brilliant piece, loved it. Bravo..Applause.

Your poem is filled with poise and grace

it brought a smile across my face

the words here written brought to mind

of ones we all have loved in time.

Memories of past romance intact

Brings inner warmth as we look back

On ones we loved and saw pass by

As we look back and wonder why?

And if by chance they came our way

How would they be changed today?

Would rekindled love be strong and true?

Would romance of old begin anew?

The words you penned here stirs the mind

And brings wonder of what one may find

No, I will give thanks to loves of old

And memories that rest within my soul.

For they served to shape the man I am

And prepare the heart I have within

So I might offer to my wife

A friend to walk with her through life.

Very lovely. I'm with Silent Reed: I was waiting for someone to get their heart ripped out or their neck chewed on -- ha ha! But you penned this one with a true romantic's flare. Nice touch.

I know myself that when something softer is written by my inner muse I often sit back in shock, and this was a surprise to me as well

for i thought it would go down a much darker path when i first started writing it..

Thanks for the visit its always a joy to receive a comment from a poet such as yourself :)
