This is purely my imagination of a child's correspondence with God although the first one about the pink shoes is partly from a child's note to God. This is meant to be a series of letters from the journal of a child written to God.. read on..

Dear God,
Thank you for listening to my prayers. Mummy bought me some new shiny pink shoes today.. if you come to church this Sunday I will show you my new shoes. I will wear them with the pink Barbie dress. I am sure you will like it. So please God, be there.

Dear God,
I have a doubt, I wrote that I want new pink shoes in my Diary, how did you know about that? Did you cheat like I do at times? Mommy says it is bad to look into other peoples diaries, now to whom will you say sorry to...Oh, I forgot, to your Father of course. Will he spank you like my daddy does when I am naughty? It is okay if you read my diary. I write it just for you. This means that you will not be doing something wrong when you read my diary again. See now, I saved you.

Dear God,
I hate Michael, that spoilt brat, my cousin. He is a bully and all of us have to listen to him. I always feel like punching his nose off. Mommy says that you said in the Bible that if you hate your brother or sister you cannot love God, I love you God, you don’t trouble me, it is only Michael that I hate.What can I do he troubles and irritates me so much? Please fix him dear God... but don’t tell mommy that I told you to.. it is our secret.

Dear God,
I read mommy’s diary today, like you read mine. Mommy is so bad, she writes such terrible things about daddy, but when daddy is here she calls him honey and smiles sweetly at him. Please keep them together.. I don’t want them to fight and live separately like Beulah's parents. Beulah is forever having to go from one house to another and losing her books and stuff, getting into trouble with the teachers. Please God let daddy come home early every day and make mummy happy. May be we could have many more parties here.. now you really have to listen to my prayers.

Thank you. Today mommy looks so happy. Daddy bought a ring with a nice, bright stone. She keeps looking at her ring and flashing it all the time. She is happy even though daddy has not come home yet. She even sang to me and played scrabble with me. Let daddy bring her many more rings.. Thank you God you are a nice man. I am all sleepy now good night

Dear God,

Randy kissed me today, is it bad? It did not feel nice. I don’t know why big people keep kissing each other so much. I have seen the big boy with a soccer ball kiss Sheryl so often at the end of the lane. They always ask me to tell them if anyone is coming. I know they are doing wrong.. they don’t want to get into trouble. Will I get into trouble because Randy kissed me? He smells bad... Phew ...I don’t think he brushes his teeth very well. I will not let him kiss me again, now please keep this a secret.

You let me down? Did you tell mommy about what Randy did to me? Why did you do that ? I trusted you. She told me I am bad and I should not do it ever again. She was happy when I told her I wouldn’t do that. I am so angry with her.. why does she let daddy do all kinds of things to her while she tells me I must not let anyone touch me the wrong way? She is mean. I better hide my diary, I think she is reading it.. when I am not home.. I don.t think you are a tattletale.

Mommy told me that you love all people, even the bad guys, all the time. How can you? I cannot love mommy and daddy the only ones in the house all the time. I don't like mommy and daddy when I am grounded. They are really mean to me. But why would you love those guys who killed you? Will you tell me why? I want to know...

You did not write to me. Oh! I almost forgot. They drove nails into your hands, I saw the holes in the pictures.. oh it must hurt.. sorry, I forgot about that. Okay, I will ask Mommy this, she says you have said everything in the Bible. Take care.

I asked mommy and she told me that you are Love and you love all people. I want to be like you, could you make me like you? Have you answered that in the Bible? I will ask mommy again.

Dear God,
Mommy bought me this Bible and I saw that you have underlined these words. Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, that means I can love as you do. I am going to try hard to love everyone the way you do. Thank you God, from now on you can underline your words in the Bible and answer all my questions. Your hands won't pain so much and we can talk to each other as much as we want. Thank you God for being my friend.
