Listen To Our Inner Voice
Who We Really Are
Each day goes by quicker than the day before
It can not be possible since the same time is still in each day
Then why ?
If we think back when we were young when the days of school never seemed to end
The wrinkles on our face start to add up like books on a shelf
You start with one then before you know it you have ten
The people who we have known all our lives are secretly disappearing
Where did the day go when we wouldn't of missed saying hi ?
Now we can't remember their phone number or the last time we talked
The children you once knew have grown to young adults
They are busy driving and off to work or college
It is time to take account for what we have and what we have done
Like an inventory every business does once a month like clock work
Who are we under the skin ?
Someone who has been true to their own ambitions and desires
No matter what we tried we never gave up
Sitting in the corner quiet as a mouse
Listening to ourselves not all the other noises and endless chatter
Lets slip away into our own bodies that have protected us and served us well
Giving thanks to our spirit that carries us through the darkest of times
Relaxing and appreciating who we are with all our faults
Seeing the person we are over years of investigation and careful study
This is our life and the many changes we have taken over time
Some Good and some that still needs a little more improvement
Tweaked just a tad
We are in for the long haul
We are here till the final die is cast
We are here until our last chip is cashed in
Why not get to know the real me
The one who doesn't have to dress up to impress
Being quiet from time to time makes so much sense
It is understanding who is the real person behind that wonderful face
So if we don't take the time now when will we ?
When are hands our folded and we are all dolled up with heavy makeup
Wearing a suit we never did like too much tucked way back in our closet for this special day
Wearing a half smile half grin
I rather see myself now
When I can still take a bow
For all I have done and for all I have ever been
