Michelle, Running Away From Hell - A True Story
A Story to Be Told
We start writing this story after knowing that Michelle, the real Michelle, is literally "safe and sound."
Michelle is a teen like any other young girl, energetic, ready to smile with you all the way to the end of this article. Technology is right at her own fingertips. She can create some crazy apps for fun.... so here is...
Her Story
Michelle was born on July 25th, 1999. Right before the new millennium. She didn't even know this world was going to be so mean...! Her father separated from her mother when she was not even born.
Michelle had that inner curiosity in meeting him after 14 long years. More of a decade without knowing him but solely by pictures. He emigrated from Colombia to San Jose-Costa Rica in search of new horizons. The time has come when she was eager to know him and catch up on so many things. A truly dad's girl!
She traveled to see him back in 2013. At first all seemed fine. The first weeks were lovely, being in a new environment. However, dad new of life on the streets. He was hard on her, controlling and demanding. She had no choice but comply.
From Cali - Colombia to Costa Rica
Life began to change. Costa Rica was another country away from her native Cali. Her mom emigrated to Argentina 18 months before. Michelle wanted to have a normal life, meaning being allowed to have a boyfriend and find happiness on her own terms and time. Dad did not allow that boyfriend 'thing'. Michelle began to feel the unfairness of life. Dad enforced harsh rules for his new found daughter. How long was this situation going to last? Did she make the biggest mistake of her life? What was concocting in her mind at that young age?
Missing!
Missing...!
The day after Halloween, Michelle went missing... she vanished like a late, Friday 13, night smog. What a first day of the month to celebrate all the saints day. Her mother in Argentina began to look for answers. Dad and family put the ad on FaceBook -- attached the actual post. The manhunt began, police was notified. Was she taken away by human traffickers?
What happened to Michelle? According to her mom and other sources. Michelle had enough of her dad and took off. She went away with a family of a friend's friend. Was she in danger? Yes! This people was going to use her for drugs or maybe prostitution. The signs were evident.
Was her guardian angel on her side? Was she going to be another victim of those south if the birder human traders?
On November 5th, a woman known as 'Monica' contacted her through FaceBook. She gave Michelle enough confidence to answer back. Michelle was able to scape from that place around 3 AM. Angel Monica was already out there waiting.
The mother in Argentina was contacted. Michelle was saved from those underground human traders.
Back to her dad?
Michelle didn't want to see her dad, "ever again," in her own words. Her mother thanked Monica for her action. We did call Monica and have a conversation with her:
"Why did you do it, Monica?"
"Joseph, I have 2 kids of my own and God forbids... nothing like... I wouldn't want to see them go through all this mess! Even though I'm a single mom, I cared!"
Michelle had nightmares and quick to turn into a nervous wreck. What were her options? Monica was kind enough to give her a roof over her shoulder, but she was another single mom down there. Dad was contacted and agreed to let Michelle go see her mother in Buenos Aires.
The plane ticket was more than what her mom could afford. Her dad didn't want to talk about money. There was no cash available for her to travel. Was she trapped in a limbo?
What happened?
After talking to her mother...we decided to make this one happen. We contacted some angels that had the money. We called the ticket agent from COPA airlines, and made her trip a reality. We wanted to save at least one soul. We knew we could help this poor thing.
Michelle was supposed to travel at 6:A.M. November 17th, 2013, but was held back by emigration. The drama was not over. Missing her plane...?
Another miracle happened: authorities gave the green light for the next available flight.
Michelle left Costa Rica on November 17th, 2013. at 11:45 A.M.
Was This Story...
What If..?
As we write these lines... we cannot forget those kids from all over the planet that didn't make it. Most are still enslaved and even sold for unimaginable purposes. There are so many countries under the stigma. We want them to know that there is still... hope!
As we close this article, we have come out with so many answers. The outfit that she wore when she arrived to Argentina, was given by people that she didn't even remember. Her odyssey was over, but the healing process? How many girls ended their existence, all because they never had a lending hand? We salute you Michelle!
