Monkeys On My Back
Monkeys monkeys climbing, clinging on for dear life
We all have them, waiting and needing, burdens and strife
I threw a few off and was chased by many more
Go away monkeys, you I’m trying to ignore!
They are relentless and determined it’s true
Numbers are building, to hell with this there’s a queue!
I am defeated into humble submission
Okay I submit, but please at least listen!
One at a time, wait, my back is horrendously bent
I’ll stroke your backs once your off, if you promise no more are sent?
The party on my back is a little too frantic
So let’s calm it down now, sorry not being pedantic
So there you go monkey, you were the biggest of the clan
Can’t say it was a pleasure, sorry not a big fan
The weight is lifting, just little ones left
Easy now, they are going, am I feeling bereft?
I won’t miss you, I’m already feeling lighter
Here’s a kiss though goodbye, you little blighters!
Have fun on your travels, I wish you the best
Take care, don’t come back soon, please take a rest!
