My Firsts

Updated on October 3, 2010

This is a personal hub about the “Firsts” of some experiences in my life. Happy ones, funny ones, silly ones.

◦•

1) First Job

I hated speaking on the phone for the first week as I thought everyone was listening to what I was saying and pretending they were working.

◦•

2) First taste of Sushi

I have always pulled a face at the thought of eating “raw fish” but one day a friend insisted on taking me to restaurant to try it. As soon as I ate it, I kept on patting my head. (It's hard to describe but you feel a hot, tinkly feeling in your head). I actually liked it – it didn’t taste of raw fish.

◦•

3) First Driving Test

During the Test, I drove on the Curb. Needless to say the Test was terminated immediately. I don’t know why they can’t take “nerves” into consideration. Lol.

◦•

4) First Bank Account

It meant a lot to me. Dad opened an account for me on my 18th birthday and deposited a large amount of money. Oh, I love my Dad!

◦•

5) First Car

It was a Toyota Corolla. I could drive it but didn’t have a clue about the running of it. Twice, I put water in the Radiator, leaving the cap on top of the car and then drove off, forgetting to put the cap back. I had to buy new ones. Doh!

◦•

6) First Ice Skating experience

This was Disco Ice Skating with a friend, in the O2 Arena and I fell on my bum so many times, it was hilarious. I had to always ask to be pushed a bit, to get my skates going. There was a member of staff, on ice who showed me how to start too. That's me skating in the middle below.

7) First Police Caution

Naughty Girl! I was in a hurry to go to work and took a short cut which was meant for only buses. (It clearly had “no entry” but I thought no one was watching and guess who pulled out of the corner with flashing lights? I still remember what I said to the Police "I'm so sorry, that that was a stupid thing for me to do and I won't do it again." (shaking in my boots) They were actually nice and let me off with a word of caution. (Hopefully, first and last)

8) First Boyfriend

I was good in my teens and brought a friend home to just chat and watch TV. Well guess who came home from work early? Dad!!. He never came home in the afternoons but it turned out he brought back some food to be cooked. Oh… he wasn’t pleased and asked my friend to only visit when he or my mum was in. So embarrassing. Dad!!!!

◦•

9) First Bible

This was given to me while in Secondary School. It was a small red Gideons given to all students and thats how I got interested in Christianity.

◦•

10) First Time in Paris

First time on Eurostar too. Well, No one had any rest until Elena had been to the Eiffel Tower. I also remember looking at the Metro map (very confused) telling my friend it looked like “spaghetti”. Beautiful place, friendly people. Photo above - me on the First Floor of the Eiffel Tower. (I'm standing infront of a space/science capsule).

◦•

11) First time I rode a bike

My friend taught me and it was frustrating because the pedals kept on rolling back. I still can’t ride a bicycle.

◦•

12) First Published Article

Ofcourse was on Hubpages. I never knew I’d be writing on the internet for months and months.

◦•

Do you have any interesting “Firsts” to share?
