My Lucky Number Two
I Never Knew It To Mean So Much
Growing up my favorite number was two and yours was three
We use to joke often and we both thought they would always treat us right
Now my night is quiet and my number two stands alone
Reminding me of just two months ago when life was so different
Each one of your laughs had a rich and sweet joy
That I heard proudly and could always cherish
The sound of you talking and sharing lifes wonders
I would listen and then try to understand your never ending love
When life got you down you beat it with a stick
Then rose to your feet and gave it one swift kick
You always found time to help others in simple ways
Always there ready to give
In a world so cold even the good are forgotten
Now I sit with glassy eyes of dried tears from the day before
You are on your own journey free to travel the world you always wanted
With dad so you can be together forever
Like you planned so long ago
Things have a way of working out
Just not when or the way we thought
Good night mom like I have said many times before
Letting you know I love you more and more
