No Not My Son's Black Lives Matter
Silence breeds contempt
How much longer do we sit in contemptuous Silence
While the heartbeat of our generation is slaughtered in the streets
Vilified, degraded, disrespected
Would you in our shoe sit idle on hand's
Non-fisted, whilst your Children are brought to lay
like the rabid dog's you portend
Silence breeds contempt
The longer we sit in silence, the more contempt
You see through the eyes of hatred and fear
we who are Mothers, Fathers etcetera
see Potential, possibility for a bright future
What is the driving force
Is it the greatness that within us creeps, filling you with fear
Yes you..., fear us! The arrogance you see seeping through
Comes not from false pride, but from pride in knowing truth
Our refusal to be enslaved by a System designed to stem, stagnate growth
You call us Animals;
for destroying our community in the Name of Justice, (a smirk)
Yet you destroy your Neighborhoods for a Game
Football, baseball, Basketball. Misunderstood youth
I will no longer in contemptuous silence sit
Disclaimer: This prose was written as a protest piece while I watched the televised protest of the "Black Lives Matter Movement". Although my Children are not directly affected the Children who lost their lives belonged to someone. They had Families that loved and cared about them, and so I cared. I owe my principles and belief that People were to be protected based on my Childhood experiences in Jamaica. Neighbors protected and look out for each other's Children no matter the skin color, and religious beliefs, through my own personal growth I've added sexual orientation. and Abilities. The latter defining anyone having a disabling condition.
