Politician's Ode
By: Wayne Brown
One monkey don’t stop no show
That’s what they say
Maybe one monkey don’t
But maybe one politician does
And no one stem the flow
A rollin’ stone gathers no moss
That’s what they say
Maybe one stone don’t
But just maybe one politician does
And still we suffer loss
Life is hard, harder if you are stupid
That’s what they say
Maybe life is hard for us
But so blameless for one politician
No matter the things he did
A bird in the hand, worth two in the bush
That’s what they say
Maybe we have one in hand
But the politician has two in the shrub
Killing our world with oily slush
Nothing venture, nothing gained
That’s what they say
Maybe we venture not
But the politician gets the gain
Oil is flowing, nothing tamed
It’s a sad, sad, sad state of affair
That’s what they say
Maybe sadness is our fate
But the politician has a smiling face
Dark waters, does he really care?
One for the money, two for show
That’s what they say
Maybe we got the money
But the politicians runs the game
Oily world, stem the flow
Such is life, cuts like a knife
That’s what they say
Maybe we live, maybe we die
The politician makes the rules
Black death, America pays the price
