Poetry: When You Said I Love You
When you said, “I love you”
It was as if I’d been given a high,
Direct jolt of electricity to my heart
It couldn’t have leaped any
Higher and for dozens of reasons
I haven’t figured out yet how it
Happened and dozens more I may
Never figure it out
But I felt as if I’d started to fizz with
Electricity unable to control the
Direction of its current
Whenever you’re in a room I was
Acutely aware of your presence
By picking up tiny vibrations in the air
And I always find myself quivering in
Response fighting to control the
Simmering cauldron of emotions
Bubbling inside me.
