Sihouettes' Dance
By: Wayne Brown
Dancing, dark shapes; shadows to my prying eyes
Haunt the walls and windows wearing their disguise
Their dark form making motions cast in tones of mute
No sounds upon the wind; no music from the flute
Secrets told in shadows held tight in romance embrace
Flashes of light and darkness alternate in one place
First one then two, close, touching, emotions run high
Dancing in anonymity from prying eyes that spy
A love story in motion played out on the window shade
A watcher envies with jealous eyes of bright, green jade
A private moment; a tender kiss; not meant for the light
Love’s little secret thought hidden within the night
Not a word is spoken but the movements say it all
Mysterious dancing shadows upon the bedroom wall
Moments stolen; spent on a desired romantic chance
Cast upon the window shade, the silhouette’s dance
I am reminded of how we danced shadows in the night
Cast upon window curtains in the soft bedroom light
But that was many years ago, more than just a few
Time cannot take my memories of shadow dance with you
Now I move as a lonely shadow cast in solemn stance
Night shadows over your grave on your headstone dance
Death snatched you from our embrace; nothing left in trade
Now I sit alone watching other’s shadows dance on the shade
