Slow Down And Get More Things Done

Updated on April 4, 2013

Ironic Huh ?

I guess I didn't learn what I was suppose to learn in school

Putting my math skills and science knowledge together

I have been getting the wrong answer and thought it was right

I thought if we worked faster more tasks or jobs could be completed and that would leave more time for ourselves

Simple math

Finishing one project I could go on to the next one until all my jobs were finished

Then I could enjoy the good life

With time to relax and less time doing things

I could take a walk and go to the gym

Not so simple

I couldn't be more wrong

I remember learning in math and science many laws or rules but nothing like this

There will always be jobs to do and never enough time to do them

If we rush one job to get to the next one

Both jobs will be done but not to your liking and you will never be happy

There is a good chance one of the jobs will not be done right and will have to be done again

Which will create twice as much work and less over all time

New logic

Slow down and look at what has to be done

Some jobs will just have to wait

Thinking things through you might think of a better way to do the job

Asking a friend for help

Giving the job to someone else to do

Doing half the job and finishing the job later

When the weather is better that might speed up the job

Maybe create less of a mess that would lead to still another job

Let the job go and maybe it wasn't a job for you to do

You sometimes give yourself things to do that you feel are important

That only you can do (irrational thinking)

But after looking at the same job later you realize you might not want to do it

You do it because it makes you feel better

It could be folding clothes a certain way

Sweeping or vacuming the floor

Shoveling snow

We could go right outside and shovel as soon their is a few inches of snow

When if we waited and tomorrow the sun came up and the snow melted any way

We will have less to do and other things more important can be done

List the jobs in priority levels

Not just the way you want them done

After finishing a job put the results on paper

What the job was and how you wanted to do it and how you did it in the end

Then the time required and how you feel now

Well this is just a small list of things that I have to do

Slowing things down processing my thoughts

Enjoying doing the job

Turn the job into something fun

A new way to get into shape

Yard exercises instead of raking leaves for Spring clean up

Window washing competition instead of house chores

Creative vacuming by vacuming with opposite hands

Testing my skills not cleaning the dirt because the rugs haven't been vacumed

Washing the car inside and out to see it sparkle and smell fresh

Making our surroundings interesting and pleasant

Not only to wipe off all the dirt over the winter

I could go on and on

So slow down and be happy not sad

Things will get done

If not now tomorrow then some time real soon

The world wont come to an end

Don't forget to stop for lunch and pat yourself on the back

For a job done well is not a job but a pleasure to be enjoyed in its own right
