Some Things (poem)
I can’t tell what’s real anymore
Some things won’t leave me alone
-
The music plays familiar tune
As I go drifting off somewhere
Following silent surrender
Some things won’t leave me alone
-
Warm echoes of a past unknown
Take me again in waiting arms
Taking me back welcoming me
Calling to summers long ago
Far from the darkness of my room
Some things won’t leave me alone
-
Is it the fan or my heartbeat
Pulsing this wind around my mind
Or maybe my glass of loneliness
Toying with my sense of what’s real
Some things won’t leave me alone
-
My memory sits next to me
Squeezing teasing kisses in time
As feelings dealt replaces words
And in the back the music stirs
All reflected in pool of tears
Some things won’t leave me alone
-
Where do I can I go from here
Came longing questions from my eyes
To part of me no longer there
Some things won’t leave me alone
-
Carry us to those mountain tops
Let our moment still fill the air
In you alive the Joy we share
Was music playing in my soul
And in that smile of her picture
Some things won’t leave me alone
