Somewhere
I dreamt in a dream
Last night, that I flew
Somewhere so very far away.
T’was a place of beauty,
Where I began to wish I could stay.
My night was filled with happiness,
And all things seemed to portray
All the beauties and the loveliness
Of this wonderful day.
The sky was lit so brightly
That from within its sight
I simply could not beg away.
Down beneath me a lilac tree lay.
Whose plumes of flowers,
Bedecked with sparkling jewels
And drops of rain began to sway.
The whole wondrousness of it,
Upon my Brain
Began to leave
Its permanent stain.
When suddenly the sky
Began to thunder
And its bright loveliness
To split apart.
Wrenching with it the
Very strings of my heart.
Slowly the threads
Of my dream
Started to fray,
And as they unraveled
It faded away.
From before me
My glorious little dream
Of the star-filled night
Was violently torn away.
When as before and always
My sleep filled eyes
Unwillingly registered
The new day.
