Stony haiku - Scenic perfection

Scenic perfection - a stony haiku

Watching the rock face, a stony immobile presence, casting it shadows on the waters rippling and moving to the other shore, my brain was fascinated and senses teased. It seems nature often pairs the impossible together. The rock that is slowly disintegrating into the moving water, as the water gently laps around it, in probably a million years. The tender green shrubs and grass around them seem to be the perfect foil to make this unsightly stone a perfect composition for the ready canvas. A picture from my camera became the theme for my internet haiku canvas today. Someday it will surely find its way on to a canvas that I plan to paint on... scenic perfection.

Perfection in stone

Stony heart so cold,
Stands still, proud and distant,
Coarse sharp edges.

Shaky reflections,
Ripples spreading so wide,
Faithless images.

Weathered by storms,
Toughened and dead inside,
Fossilised remains.

Tender grass stands tall,
Softening the landscape,
United naturally.

Pretty picture,
Quietly juxtaposed,
Fair composition!

Peace and calm,
By serene beauty drawn,
I stand amazed!

Cyndi10, I was wondering if I made sense to the normal reader.. looking at it from an emotional perspective of a woman, a painter and an crafts person..this expression was deep for me.. Glad you were drawn into it.. Thanks for the comment. Have a blessed day. Shalom!

You are an amazing photographer, and the Haikus are a true tribute to the beauty captured by your lens.

I like how you contrast the stillness of the rock with the living, moving water and greenery. Lovely :)

Timorous, Ah! you my friend caught the essence of the juxtaposition and the contrast that I strive to bring about here... opposites do make a good picture... somehow they do fall well into a frame... Thanks for that very clear sighted comment! Have a blessed day! Shalom!

This is the first time that I've appreciated the beauty of a stone...yes, I do perceive them as cold but here you've presented another aspect of it...great Haiku...

Raciniwa, LOL I love stones..precious and not so .. I actually have a collection of weird shaped ones and my kids add to it... :) Any stone needs to be in its perfect setting to have it beauty highlighted.. sitting on the sidelines and watching the stone seemed like the best thing to do at the moment! Out of it was born this haiku.. and I am glad that you did like this! Thank you for appreciating this scenic beauty with me.. Have a blessed day! Peace!

Yay, another awesome poet, this is so cool, I love meeting poets like myself, and especially those whom truly understand the aesthetic nature in things.

Your poem on this landscape here is wonderful & appealing to the senses in every way thus making for the perfect Haiku, and I just learned about writing these tough poems recently. Awesome job here, voted up indeed.

Alone a stone surfaces above the glimmer and ripples of it's surroundings and the green hugs it's shadows to fight for the radiance of the sunbeam. An ode to the stone, such beauty from your pen. Voted Up and beautiful indeed.
