The Gift To Write

You don’t know where it comes from. It’s like a little voice whispering the words for you to write.

It wakes you up out of your sleep and gets you out of the bed in the middle of the night.

It’s something that you must do.

It’s a drive that pulls you.

No matter where you are, no matter what you are doing.

It’s something that you are always pursuing.

It runs through you like the blood that flows through your veins.

It comes out of your fingertips like water when it rains.

You were blessed with a gift. A gift to capture an emotion with a word.

To put them to together on paper so they can be heard.

I embrace my gift with all of my might.

And may the Lord continue to bless us with the gift to write.

Right on, Sassy-or should I say, "write on"! LOL When the muse beckons, I follow, as does many of us here in the community. :)

@ Flora.....thank you. I know what you mean about the late nights until the early mornings. Enjoy your holiday :)

It's fantastically ironic that reading this inspired me to write. I couldn't help but create a response of sorts. Not nearly as good as yours, but it was fun :) I hope you read it, and thanks for sharing!

Hi, sassyk73

This is why I can be up still at 3am writing even though I don't need any extra help having difficulty sleeping by not getting to bed until the wee hours of the morning. And you have to write ideas down right away or you forget it and then you will be upset.

Hope you had a great Canada day. I did.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC couldn't be explained any better.

I love this hub because it's true.

I can testify of having to jump up out my sleep/bed and start writing or typing, even when i am on the road and no PC or pen is available i write it as a text and save on my cell. It's definitely a gift from above ;)

Poetic inspiration

God bless and keep up the good work

Amazingly beautiful. This wonderful piece reflects what I feel about my writing. No one else in my family is a writer but many of us are avid readers and I feel that my avid reading has helped to fuel my storytelling. But to put the stories and characters down onto paper after they have been living in your head for so long . . . it's an amazing thing.

Well stated and expressed in a exceptionally succinct and lucid fashion, sassyk73! This is the best description of inspiration that I read in a long long time!

Voted this up and awesome, sassyk73 Great job!

Regards Mike (Aka professor M) ;D
