The Journey Loses Something When We Walk Alone
It has been said that, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step"
But, as those steps gather behind us, stretching into the past and building their own little history, they also lose their shape...their uniqueness...their beauty...when walked alone...
With each new discovery...of life...of self...of God, though wonderful and needed, are not as beautiful as if it was shared with that one...that answered prayer...that other...
The experiences, painted on a thousand canvases, are not as awe-inspiring when hung in a gallery built for one...unshared...not discussed...
The triumphs are lessened and the sadness multiplied as one walks alone, knowing that the other does the same...brought together...but, now apart...
It is also written, "It is not good for man to be alone" and in this I find comfort...whether real alone-ness or just that of a longing heart...to be that which we have waited for, but better...to journey as one and see those sights in their full wonder and intensity...to be...forever...together...
