The Little Things in Life Matter
The smallest critters do chirp and to buzz, sending us all a message,
Although the big and tall overreach the small, do have an advantage.
We all matter just as much as you, says every little fellow, out loud.
While the rest look over, ignore the clover, their minds up in a cloud.
Just don't forget to wash your hands, the microbes out to get ya,
Every virus known to man, just waits there to take your picture.
The high and mighty seem to forget, just how they came to be,
If not for a father and mother's help, they may still be up a tree.
It takes a seed to grow some crops, the apples and the peaches,
The misguided few affect the many, to grab beyond their reaches.
Poisoning everything within sight, this is including their own kind,
They close their eyes to things that count, as if they all were blind.
One day there will be a great reckoning and a paying for their greed,
The ways they have harmed us all, and have prevented us to succeed.
Right now we have to shout to be heard, this so high above the crowd,
For each one of us seems doomed to see, all charlatans, big and loud.
The smallest and the tiniest of things do matter, this proof is all around,
The chirp of the crickets in the night, a whippoorwill's cherished sound.
A babe's sweetest coo in its mother's arms, a giggle from a small child,
The shout from a watchman in the dark, the meaning of a happy smile.
