Till The Mirror Shines Clear.

I look in the mirror

and see a little

boy beneath the flaws,

there's also an old hippie

still fighting for the cause.

The mirror holds time

reflecting back

it paints a picture skewed,

the flesh becomes a canvas

marking all that I've accrued.

Where did the dreamer go to

when the world all went to hell

a teardrop glimmers in my eyes,

from my soul where sorrows dwell.

A baby boomer just iike you

we thought we'd change the world,

but the world changed

all our hopes into

a fetal ball now curled.

Like an unborn thought

that never finds

a poem to make it whole,

I played some minor parts

but never

found a starring role.

I helped defend my country

but it's drowned itself in greed,

so many deny health care

to so many more in need.

The giving and forgiving

has become just

take and keep

while somewhere

in this sacred land

ill, hungry children weep.

And patriotism took a turn

somewhere not long ago

decieving us and making dust

of many we loved so.

Young boys sent out

to fight a war

weapons of

mass destruction,

but now folks line

the streets and wail

over simple tax reduction.

What happened to priorities,

and mankinds true compassion?

Let's just ignore minorities

they've fallen out of fashion.

Let's mock our leaders daily

while they strive to bring us change,

tea partiers dancing gaily

make D.C. their target range.

They never had to wear the shoes

that cripple men with dreams

the rich all lobby and confuse

till hope bursts at the seams.

I've never seen

such hate displayed

and thousands who expound

on taking back what

should be paid,

to millions who are down.

Obstructionists all waving fists,

and finding victory,

while young boys die,

and babies cry

from sea to shining sea.

The votes now count for nothing

in the minds of those who rant,

we chose the man

we thought should lead,

now they all say he can't

He's Hitler they all chant,

He's a socialistic plant.

But what do their opinions

say about the choice we made,

do they think we're all that stupid,

and that we've all been betrayed.

Perhaps they need to find a mirror

and take a good long gaze,

they are becoming what they fear,

the end to freedoms ways.

We made a choice

and we should stand,

together as a nation,

let those elected do their jobs,

and stop this confrontation.

Where were they

when old Georgie Bush

wreaked havoc on our land,

he started what Obama has

to fix now with his plans.

Sean Hannity has vanity

but does he have the answers?

and Rush Limbaugh

spews words of awe,

but is it simply cancer?

And old Glen Beck

is set to wreck

each act that is unfulrled,

but where's his plans,

not negatives stands

how would he rule out world?

Why were they all so silent

when Bush made his mistakes?

the truth lies there we must beware,

there are no higher stakes.

it's all about the party,

and the losing of the prize,

it's vengeance pure and simple,

one can see it in their eyes.

It's all about controlling

it's a great social disease.

and if Obama had been white,

he could do just what he pleased.

Otherwise these folks who shout

to save us from what's bent

would all have cried "Remove "this" guy,

when " Bush" was president.

We aren't an ignorant people,

we can see through smoke and mirrors,

come November we will speak once more,

watch those  tea parties dissapear.

All through our countries history,

we have seen such mass divisions,

as far back as Abe Lincoln

when a bullet made decisions.

We are keeping track of these attacks

the N-words and the spitting

all the signs

aligned with racial slurs,

won't have us to

them commiting.

There's no hundred thousand dollar

speeches that will change our mind,

as Sarah Plain shouts "Take aim!"

the majority's not that blind.

We seen her leave her office

as a governor and roam

as a quitter not a winner,

for the folks back home in Nome.

Who takes care of her children

while she's out there nursing hopes.

gambling only on some maybes,

while her handicapped baby copes.

I'd think a mother should be home

when there's a child in need

of all that only moms can give

instead of chasing greed.

Then there's Huckabee

whose honeyed words,

hide painful stings of woe,

to take us back to where we were.

not very long ago.

There's Newt Gingrich

whose got the itch

for a presidental ride

a man who chastised Clinton

while Newt got some on the side,

and his wifes love was denied.

I'm tired of such hypocites,

we need a family man,

we've got one now,

behind the plow

he's doing all he can.

Yet they keep seeking to repeal

the acts that he gets passed,

He's trying to fix

the mess bush left

for this he gets harrassed.

The mirror that holds the images

of a nation that is healed,

keeps getting smashed and shattered

in it's shards the truth's revealed.

The tea baggers all marching

spouting slogans in the streets,

aren't out there seeking victory

they're just hunting down defeats.

So think about the things you've seen

take a good look in the mirror,

That reflects the actions of these folks,

do you want "their" leaders here.

Do you really think that health care

was so wonderful before,

does your soul demand

you turn your heads

and just ignore the poor.

Do you really think that immigrants

should be shot while crossing walls,

if you do then grab a rifle,

show the world you've got the balls,

to shoot down all those escaping

from a country worse than many

each man and woman

and each child

till there is no longer any.

Would it not be easier to build,

some doors in bushes wall,

and register those coming in,

more hireees for all.

We might just have to

spend some more

as Americans to build

a country that is truly great,

with all our dreams fulfilled.

It might cost you some luxuries

you'll have to give up something nice

but every problems carries plans

demanding sacrifice.

Elections coming very soon,

the choice is truly yours,

elect more men to shut us down,

or try Obama's cures.

I say that we should give him

what we offered when we voted

a full four years free of their jeers

it's time tea was demoted

and true change is promoted.

I'm sorry I'm here first. I love your work. I wish I could follow another's remark. I get a little angry when I think about wasted and damaged lives because of the greed and meanness of our leaders?!? A lot of the "citizens are just frickin' mean! They are "better than so many of us"?!? Sorry- see what I mean. Sometimes I'm not fit for human consumption! Thanks MFB!

very nice one, I know a glimpse of you, the mirror is a refection of reality. You did well, fighting for the country and youre a good man,

But politicians should CARE a lot, What happened to justice of caring, a LOST CAUSE, Maita

I believe I disagree

most respectfully,

with some of your ideas here;

while with others i agree.

If politicians and newspersons could learn to do the same,

The world that we live in would be much more sane.

I really liked the hippie tear in the mirror,

and look forward to more of your good work here.

Hey, I love your work. I'm too young to be an original hippie, but one of my kids called me a cool hippie chick lately. Nice.

Your take on politics is right on... it's all about money and power. No one really cares what is best for the people.

Thanks for writing.

Namaste.
