The Poor Little Creature Named Sam

Updated on March 22, 2013

His Name Was Sam

The poor little creature. God rest his soul, did not expect or deserve its fate. His name was Sam. He woke up this morning and started on his daily journey. The world was such a big place. It had so many places for him to explore and hide. All of Sam’s friends warned him not to go out to far. But Sam, being as curious as he could be, was attracted to the big bright light that resided above the concrete mountain. He heard many tales about creatures attempting to venture out to this light but was never seen again.

Sam Begins His Journey

He said to himself, “Those are just wise tales and I am not going to let that stop me!” So he looked around to see if anyone was watching. Then he shrugged his shoulders and started going towards the concrete mountain. In the distance the mountain looked very small but as he got closer it was getting larger and larger. He thought to himself, “This is really going to be a big challenge!” So he took a deep breath and started running as fast as he can. He leaped as high as he could and all of his six feet stuck to the side of the mountain. He said to himself, “That was easy. I don’t know what all of the big fuss was about.” Then he continued on with his curious journey.

He approached the top of the mountain with no problems. All he could see were shadows of these giant beings moving around. He was terrified. However, it did not take him off of his course. He was drawn by this beautiful and inviting bright light. He wondered what he would say when he reached his destination. He practiced on introductions. He said things like, “Hello my name is Sam. My name is Sam and it is a pleasure to meet you.” Then he corrected himself and said, “Hello, the name is Sam and it is an honor to make your acquaintance.”

The poor little brave and curious creature kept on moving towards the big bright light. He said to himself, “How beautiful! I think I am in love.” He started singing and humming to himself. But little did Sam know, he was setting himself up for failure.

Sam Reaches His Destination and Meets His Fate

He finally reached his destination and looked the big bright light straight into it’s eyes. He felt a magnetic force pulling him closer towards the light. He slowly moved forward and big smile appeared on his face. All of sudden he heard a loud zapping noise and the screams and cries of other creatures that were going towards the light. He said, “No! How could this be? I am not like them. I came to see you because I had to be near you! I am in love with you. Please, don’t hurt me!”

He proceeded to go into the light. He felt a tingling sensation all over his body. He started disintegrating and then he was no more. Poor Sam, his life was taken by a bug zapper that resided at the top of our porch!
