The Wily Hunter - Amusing Childrens Poem
The Wily Hunter
There
once was a wily hunter,
Out
on the African plain,
And
what this wily hunter did hunt,
Was
other wily game.
One
day an immense lion,
Chanced
to be passing through,
And
the wily hunter he did chase,
With
all his wily crew.
The
lion walked for seven days,
And
then for seven more,
The
wily hunter went right on after,
Following
the lions paw.
But
the lion he was clever too,
When
saw he’d left a trail,
Knew
the wily hunter,
Was
on his lion tail.
They
tracked and schemed for many a day,
The
lion for to find,
But
the lion was wise to all their ways,
And
left them far behind .
The
lion decided then that was it,
On
hunter he would dine ,
And
thought about roasting on a spit,
Or
brazing them in wine.
So
back he turned on a different track,
By
the banks of a river wide,
His
clever plan to attack,
Did
boost his lionly pride.
The
hunter on the lions path,
For
many a longish day,
Was
thinking of his nice hot bath,
And
missed the rightful way.
So
lion crept at hunter,
And
hunter did track his prey,
They
both were on the same path,
And
met at the end of the day.
And
so they came up nose to nose,
The wily hunter saw,
That
the clever lion in his toes,
Had
long and beastly claw.
The
hunter brought up his rifle,
To
shoot the lion dead,
But
the lion moved in a trifle,
And
bit off the hunters head.
After
said lion unto himself,
I
should settle down to rest,
For
it will be beneficial to my health,
And
help me to digest.
