The Door (poem)
There was a fight she slammed the door
Now I am free free to explore
Free from the chains which once burdened me
She won’t have her slave to kiss anymore
-
I don’t need her wait and she’ll see
There once was Joy I held the key
And it wasn’t me who started this fight
Which started because some big mystery
-
She’ll have to sleep alone tonight
Without these arms to hold her tight
So she’ll hold her pillow and wonder why
Why I couldn’t see perhaps she was right
-
There’s other girls who need a guy
Another dream to teach me to fly
Just what makes us think that there’s only you
Just call out my name and see my reply
-
Look at the pain you put me through
Just feeling that you feel it too
There must be an answer to all of this
Some silly excuse that’s hidden from view
-
I turn to the door something’s amiss
A small repair I can’t dismiss
A simple escape we both had hoped for
This door that opened a way to a kiss
