The Gentle Tear (poem)
A gentle tear that somehow time forgot
A summer’s feeling mingled in the air
Came back to claim a moment he could not
-
Was on a day when pleasing warmth was wrought
The scent of jasmine came from everywhere
A gentle tear that somehow time forgot
-
A sip of wonder to his soul then brought
A sense of something sighs ago was there
Came back to claim a moment he could not
-
Again his heart for some conclusion sought
As from a picture came eternal stare
A gentle tear that somehow time forgot
-
He held it close still missing her a lot
Yet something had returned to strip him bare
Came back to claim a moment he could not
-
Now where was he when in death she was fraught
Warm summer’s day bore gem of the affair
A gentle tear that somehow time forgot
Came back to claim a moment he could not
