Adirondacks
This poem was written for a friend. He grew up in the Adirondacks of New York state.A simple man who never had much in life as far as material things. He work hard for his money and had a quiet and gentle spirit.I wrote several poems for him as he asked me to.
This Place
There is a place I've come to know
and to this place I often go
this place is often quiet and still
but you never know whats over the hill
crashing through the brush may be a dear or a grouse
scurrying in the leaves a squirrel or a mouse
white pine and spruce here do grow
and in the fall there is a show
maple, oak, birch and beech all seem aglow
leaves with colors like a bright rainbow
wild turkeys call and coyotes howl
caw-caw of the crow, hoot hoot of an owl
here the fox and bobcat prowl
there are trout in the streams so crystal clear
soaring eagles do fly here
this place I love and hope will always be the same
the Adirondacks is its name
