Tim was happy that he stayed in ( A POEM FOR THE CHILDREN)
Five year old boy Tim was sad
as he couldn’t go out to play,
It was raining , so mum said,
‘You must stay in today.
Last night you had fever,
Cannot now get wet my dear,
Don’t be upset, watch TV if you like,
Sit by the side of fire, come near.’
It was Sunday, Dad was at home,
he was reading a book.
Soon he got up, smiled at Tim,
Said ‘I better go to cook.’
‘What’s for dinner?’ Tim wanted to know,
Dad said ‘ It’s Cottage Pie.’
Mum said ‘ You have never cooked this meal,
do you think you should try?’
Mr. Ray gave a big smile,
Said ‘You just never know,
Who knows, it may turn out nice,
Let me just have a go!’
Sitting with mum,
Tm watched cartoons,
He was having some fun.
Soon the smell of pie
started coming out from kitchen,
Tim was happy, made a run.
‘Oh Dad it’s smelling so good !
I can’t wait any more.’
Dad smiled, said “It’s all ready,
slowly count from one to four.’
All of them at the dinner table,
Relishing the cottage pie.
‘Wow, it’s splendid, I can’t cook like this,
No matter how well I try.’
Wife’s comment delighted Mr. Ray,
He said ‘Thank you my dear.’
Tim was still eating his meal,
And soon his plate was clear.
‘Dad you are a brilliant cook!
The meal was really so yummy!
I have eaten a lot and no room there,
Look how big is my tummy!’
Daddy laughed as he was clearing the table,
Mum was washing the dishes,
Soon they sat at the sitting room
and kept sponge cakes on a plate - three big pieces.
The rain became heavy,
lightning was frequent,
Thunder was often too loud,
Tim watched the rain
with the cake in his hand,
The sky had thick black cloud.
With the hot coffee and milk
that followed later,
three of them chatted, had fun.
Tim was very happy
that he stayed at home,
He kissed his dad and mum.
He felt sleepy, daddy picked him up,
Kissed and put him to bed.
Mum came up upstairs, tucked him in,
gave goodnight kiss on his forehead.
Tim was soon fast asleep ,
cuddling his dear teddy bear.
Mr. Ray yawned, said ‘ Tomorrow is Monday
Come on let’s go to bed my dear.’
His wife laughed and said ‘Yes my dear,
You have said just right.’
Soon the house fell in sleep,
The rain stayed awake all night.
