Tired But Not For Long

Updated on August 3, 2012

I Can Find A Way

The day was long and my eyes are now blood shot red

I woke up early and began to type

I started writing about one idea then I moved on to another

With both ideas slowly coming to life I could not stop

I continued to type as my sight became blurry

My mind became weary

I would think of food for breakfast then lunch but I knew I must not stop

Wondering what I should eat and then I would write again without leaving my seat

Postponing food or any other duty

The time ticked by while the sun fell from the sky

I pressed on

There has to be a way to make sense of every thought that exsists in my head

I searched for answers and more questions would make themselves known

Each time making progress I could say I did it all alone

The weather turned warm but my air conditioner never got put on

I began to sweat and my mouth became dry

I new if I stopped I would get lost and my unfinished writing would wither away and die

So I carefully typed each word that I know had power

Forcing myself beyond my own limits

At one o'clock I thought I was done until I realized I could sqeeze my legs together

A trick that ladies and children have used for years

Forgetting every thought except the words that came from my spirit

For now they rise above me on the computer screen larger than life

I bite my tongue when other thoughts come and go

I know there will be a rainbow at the end of all this struggle

A little bit longer and I can press on through the supper time hour

People all around the world would eat

All I will hear is one key after another tapping

I begged and pleaded to myself for a cat nap

My will would hear nothing of it

If I stopped now I would go to sleep and my story would have no end

An occasional burp or a slight headache would grab my attention

With three chapters done there was no time for extensions

My neck became sore and I became bored

Then I pinched my cheek to bring back a pain that hurt much more

As I slouched I rolled the wheels of my chair over my toe

I began to yell

It's broken I know

When will the insanity stop

When every word becomes known

Right now my butt is asleep I hear the telephone ring

Only a few more lines and my story will be finished

I have worked all day to make this my best story ever

I have romance and adventure

Mystery and fantasy

Non stop action but not enough horror or shock

But my arms became weak my eyes began to shut

I slowly fell against the keyboard as my head hit delete

.Delete.delete

Off to a deep sleep then suddenly I awoke

This is no joke

What have I done

I have erased my whole days work in thirty seconds

That will teach me to go to sleep, don't forget to eat, brush my teeth, go to the bathroom, throw the air conditoner on, and get a drink of water

Instead of writing a story that ends in horror

Just an absolute disaster
