WEDDING DOLL WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
Wedding doll where are you now? ~
You sat so pretty on my bed a long while. ~
Wedding doll should I had kept you with me~
Instead I let you go to whom I thought~
You would please.
Wedding doll my Aunty Ruthy~
Gave you to me~
She hand made all your clothes~
As pretty as could be.
You had of course the wedding dress~
That you usually wore~
Than there was your red plaid dress~
That I did adore.
Beautiful blonde hair~
Worn up in a bun~
I always gave you great care~
With much particular love.
You were handed down to me~
Once being Cousin Sandy’s~
Cousin Wendy’s went to live at~
Another niece that Aunty Ruthy fancied.
Tiny white sandal shoes~
Went with all your outfits~
An emerald green and also a~
Pink dress tied with a bow~
Made up the rest of your true-so.
Oh how you sat so beautiful upon~
The pillows on my bed~
Wearing the veil upon~
Your head.
In adolescents I cherished you~
As a married adult I still relished you too.
Than came the time Aunty Ruthy~
Went to Heaven~
Her grandchildren I thought should have~
You for heirloom preservation.
I imagined Aunty Ruthy might~
Want it that way~
Mixed feelings I had when~
I gave you away.
Now I just wonder~
Did I do the right thing~
To give you up~
As you to me were such~
A treasured thing.
My only hope is that you~
Were prized the same as I had you~
My hope that you were appreciated~
Like the esteemed relic you were. ~
Now I can only wonder~
Wedding doll where are you now? ~
You sat so pretty on my bed a long while. ~
Wedding doll should I had kept you with me~
Instead I let you go to whom I thought~
You would please.
