We Have the Power To Heal Ourselves

Why Do We Not Listen ?

Our bodies by far are the most amazing

Yet we spend little time or effort to keep us well

Filling our minds with useless information

Worrying about things that never happen

Stress and frustration are welcome

It is sad but true

We take better care of our cars than our bodies

Doing little as possible and pushing our physical body to its limits

Not eating healthy and lack of proper sleep

Treating exercise as a chore instead of a way to restore

All our parts need to be oiled and greased

We go to the doctors once a year for a required visit

Yet are cars go for an oil change every three thousand miles with a twenty seven check point list

To make sure all things are good under the hood

Now lets see what are list would look like if we were a car

How is your body feeling today? Good,bad,or not sure.

Any aches or pains or cuts or bruises ?

If good then that is an o.k. If not further work is recommended

How is your mind ?

Clear as a bell or a little bit foggy?

Do you find it hard to concentrate and you are easily distracted ?

If so why?

Are there any troubles that constantly bother you?

Are you concerned about the past and the lack of time you have spent knowing yourself ?

If any problems arise don't worry we are here to fix them and let us do the work that you don't have time for

Further work needed and ongoing help recommended

Now we could easily go to each body part

Starting with the head

That is the house that holds your brain

All the knowledge that you attain

I see your eyes have bags

Your lips our dry and cracked

The hair that is left is turning grey

What about the hair that you already lossed ?

Well we can only do so much

At least we caught it before it was all gone

Your eyes have trouble seeing

You have glasses but refuse to wear them

Well we better move on before we spend to long

Your neck looks fine

No wait a little stiff but that is an easy fix

A little massage and your muscles are lose again

Free of charge

Do you know you slouch your shoulders when you stand ?

A posture issue that has gone unnoticed for years

Not sure if we can solve that problem maybe leave that for another day

Your chest that covers your heart just your most important organ

You never gave it any thought

Those sharp pains that come and go

You didn't think they meant anything

O.k. what do we know

We are just technicians that check your body to see if it works

We are not medical experts with a few degrees

But if we were you we would not go too long before seeing a primary care doctor

Who can advise you on the neccessary steps to take

We could say it is just a kink in the system and it will work itself out

But then again it is our job to let you know when things aren't up to par

The stomach home of all the food you eat

So you have no record of what food you have consumed

You just fill that empty hole in your belly and then wait untill next time it is empty

You know about eating meats with less fat for protein and those dark green vegetables that you walk by on the grocery shelf

You love those Mcdonlad's burgers and greasy fries

Then you add two apple pies because they are only a dollar

You love soda but you have cut down

A little alcohol no problem

Just to take the edge off

Drinking 8 glasses of water a day you think was an inside joke

Now we could recommend a specialist but we want to save you some money

Use common sense and where your health is concerned it is not always what is quick and easy or what tastes so good and pleases me

Try a yogurt or two

Don't jump off the deep end and buy tofu

Make little changes and then the big ones will come later

Don't just eat celery sticks and carrots

A little less is better

Not two shreds of lettuce and a sliced cucumber and a tomato

Watch the butter and easy on the salad dressing

I love snacks too

But a bowl of ice cream every night just before bed it is not so good

Everything in moderation

Our recommendation with good advice and proper control you can do it on your own

If no will power and little desire come back soon not a month and twenty pounds heavier

The waist line has been slowly increasing in size

You once again thought it was good to super size

Recheck and you don't have to buy a two hundred dollar scale

The one you have with a crack in it

Still works will do just fine

Now we come to your legs that you gave little notice

That is why you have had knee surgery numerous times

Why do you think runners stretch so much ?

To avoid injuries

Now you pay the price every rainy day that comes

You have to learned to deal with that one

Now your feet that you beat on every day

Standing all day and ignoring those blisters and bunions

A good foot massager would help

Better shoes instead of those fancy hundred dollar sneakers

Now we have quickly covered your bodies hot spots from head to toe

We are almost done

What about your poor breathing

You have had that since you were a kid

You thought it was just from allergies and it was just o.k.

Well it is not o.k.

Lets see lack of oxygen to the brain?

What does that tell you

Don't get too scared

Practice deep breathing exercises and you can improve your overall health

Now we could get nit picky and tell you more things that we know you won't do

Like read more and watch t.v. less...not an option you want to consider

Take a walk every morning and use the gym membership that you think about and pay but don't go

Listen to music to soothe your soul

Not too much sun and what about those headaches and the moody blues

To much work and way to much complaining

Then saving the best for last

Sex yes sex does the body good

Safe sex is understood

Passion and love go together

You get the picture and follow the dotted lines

After all our work and a detailed bill will come later

Total bill $1,756 .00 dollars

Now that sounds like a mechanics bill doesn't it

We accept cash no credit because that just prelongs the agony and adds on more stress

Well this is your lucky day

You are our millionth cutomer and all our work is free


So when you leave here today and try to forget everything I said

Here is a duplicate copy

This is your body and think of what you can do to make it last

Remember like a car when we go for our next oil change(what needs attention and what can wait)

Go through your own check list

Breathing better is better

Good nutrition helps all your body parts

Keep your mind active and you won't regret it

Stretching topped off with wonderful sex makes the body feel good

Now that about covers it and if any questions feel free to call

Live your life with your body

The only one you have

Take care and I hope I never see you at the doctors office waiting before they open

All suggestions make alot of sense..funny though, society usually doesn't learn this info till it is too late....however..better late than never...great hub..we're on the same page....kudos, well written...
