What Do You Really Want To Know?
Who took the truth from the dead
History is written by the winners
But what really happened
Is an orphan child
Che Guevara killed a man
Maybe more than one
Now his face is on a t-shirt
He was a baby once
I wonder why he picked up a gun
Have you ever wondered
About exotic lands?
Everyone seems so strange
I think about their children
Does God also hold their hands?
If a man speaks another language
Maybe he knows one more than you
Yet we consider many to be ignorant
There is an assumption of our greatness
But they want to feel good too
Whose paper do you read
Ours or theirs?
When fear is in charge
The honest man
Is soon mourned by his heirs
Do we have a witness?
Or do we believe what we want to believe
About dust, scales and goats?
If a man lives off the land
Then is his life worthy enough for God to grieve?
If a baby died
In a faraway place
Would you cry?
Or must that baby
Be of a certain kind of race?
Do you really want to know
Or do you just want to believe?
We are asked to have faith
But is it God’s request
Or something that man did conceive?
