What Is Important Is What Can Be Denied

What is more important
The rules or the human spirit?
There is no intent that cannot be denied
There is no word that cannot be redefined

What is more important
The facts or the feeling in your heart?
There is no contract that cannot be breached
There is no trust that cannot be impeached

What is more important
The notes or hearing the music?
There is no vow that cannot be broken
There is no race that cannot be a token

What is more important
The law or what keeps us apart?
There is no memory that cannot be unspoken
There is no hope that cannot be darkened

What is more important
The judgment or the forgiveness?
There is no faith that cannot be summoned
There is no sin that cannot be pardoned

This is one of those great poems that really gets the wheels in a person's mind turning. I'm glad you shared this one. Voted up!

Thank you Ryem. This was actually two separate poems then as I looked at them I decided they could complement one another. I appreciate your praise.

Very nice, so true, why is it that our moral compass is able to be silenced by others? Everyone puts on a mask to go to work or into public(there are exceptions lol) but really would you have to wear the mask if you loved what you do? We're under a spell of insecurity as a race! Love all feel all, know yourself above all and ride the good ride of life how you feel it, knowing's for drones!

This had a thoughtfulness to it that easily captured my mind, actions walking hand in hand with emotion... Well done!
