For the first time in history Cebu and the rest of the Philippines finally declare Chinese New Year a national holiday. Finally the government now realizes that a huge portion of Philippines resident either is Chinese or has Chinese ancestry.

Now as you know that Chinese believe in the principle of feng shui to bring good luck, good health, peace, energy, prosperity, and more. With the current state of the economy who don’t need a little good luck on their side?

Here are a little home feng shui tips that you may want to consider doing in your home

1. Plants and flowers on your table as a symbol of growth and prosperity. Fresh flowers not only bring good luck it also looks good as well.

2. Add color to your home for good luck. Certain color is believe to bring the following energy that promote certain thing.

Green = Good health and balance between work and family

Blue = Career growth

Yellow = Happy gatherings

White = Creative endeavors

You can choose among these colors on your curtains, pillow cases, rugs or decors.

3. Getting rid of clutters in your home will allow a good flow of energy. Having a clean home will allow energy to pass freely into your home which is believe to give you clarity and allow you to think much clearer.

4. Lastly a simple desk decoration for good luck is also a good idea. This year it is believe that a Dragon figurine will bring good health, wealth, good luck and happiness.

Interesting! These sound like good common sense ideas as well, especially the one about the clutter allowing energy to flow.

@nityanandagaurang - They should am not sure if really work but a lot of successful business here there establishment look by a Feng Shui expert. What will puzzle you is 4 guys selling the same thing at the same price yet majority of the people will buy from that store.

@rebeccamealey -Yup. Its a look like common sense. I once watch how a feng shui master look at a place and its all about spacing and elements working together in harmony. :D

"For the first time in history Cebu and the rest of the Philippines finally declare Chinese New Year a national holiday." - Yeah, this was a shock! :) I think it's a good move. Just goes to show that Filipinos respect its population's culture and history. The Chinese people have been living for a loooooong time in our country. Amazingly, they even helped our Filipino forefathers build those beautiful Baroque churches we can see today all around the Philippines.

@kerlynb - Yup. I was shock just like everyone else but it really show that we are evolving and accepting other culture that help create Philippines for what it is today. Thanks.

I just thought I'd share this. I ordered some gift items from china for Christmas, unfortunately one of the items needs to be returned because it doesn't work. I contacted the company only to find that they are on a two week shut down for the Chinese New Year. It got me thinking, man it must be nice to have a two week shut down each year at the beginning of the year. I think the US could take a lesson. Great Hub by the way, I enjoyed reading.

Am glad you enjoyed this piece :D

Very nice Feng Shui Tips, Cebu. I have a beautiful little ceramic vase with some greenery and freshly picked lilac flowers on the kitchen table. You know how fragrant they can be, so is there a particular 'meaning' in this flower? Blessings, Debby

@Debby Bruck - Yes flower usually means healing energy. The sweeter and stronger the scent the stronger the healing chi is. :)
