Parsley is a biennial grown as a annual.
In the second year,the plant bolts to a flowering center,and the flavor changes from mild and sweet to bitter or tasteless.First you have to figure out which one of the parsley's do you want to grow? Curled or Italian flat leaf parsley or growing both? If you want parsley you can grow it from seed. Now you have to pick the one to grow or both? Here this maybe will help you decide what kind you want to grow? The best parsley varieties for decorative planting include the double-curled ones. The best flavored, and one that customers will ask for once they have tried it, is flat-leafed Italien parsley (Petroselinum crispum neapolitanum ). With darker green leaves and sweet flavor, this is the best parsley for culinary use. Flat Leaf Italian has a stronger robust flavor than the Curled Parsley. The Curled Parsley is generally used for decoration. What you use the Curled parsley for is garnish for appetizers, main dishes,soups, and certain desserts. Main dishes like fish,chicken many different kinds of soups and many Italian dishes Curled Parsley is used for a garnish in all main dishes. And the Italian Flat- Leaf is allot stronger and would be used in culinary main dishes were parsley is one of the main ingredients in the recipe. If you have the room to grow both them you can try both. Were you decide for yourself which parsley you like best. Then that the one you would grow or if you want to grow both if you have the room.

The steps to take to get parsley to grow in pots from seed?

To get Parsley to grow in pots outdoors you have to start the seeds about six to eight weeks before you plant your parsley seedlings outdoors in your containers. What you need to start the parsley seeds are a clean sterilized flat to start the seeds. Also you need a germinating mix to sow the seeds in. Now take the flat and fill it half full with the germination mix and then soak the flat with water and let it drain completely then sow your parsley seeds but don't cover the seed takes about 10 to 14 days to germinate. Then transplanted the parsley seedlings in packs.To plant how many transplants in a container it would depend on how large a container After a few weeks then you can plant then into the pots that you want to grow them on your patio or any were outdoors. After you plant your pots or containers you should water them thoughtly and set the pots in the shade outdoors until the plants become establish. Then keep the pots or containers water and fertilize also still keep them in the shade until the plants are well establish. When planting the pots or containers it will depend on how many you plant and the size and number of plants you plant i in the containers and pots.

You can also go to your local garden center and buy your parsley plants.

Parsley plants already grown in packs. Try to shop and buy from the local garden center not the big box stores. And you can plant them in your pots. About every other week you can take and fertilize the parsley plants. And you can harvest leaves off of the plants when you need them.They will keep on growing and you can harvest leaves off of them the entire growing season.

Some things you can do with Curled and Italian Parsley.

One thing you can do with either Curled and Italian Parsley is cut the parsley and dry it and then put it in mason canning jars and store it that way for future use in making culinary dishes. How to dry curled or italian parsley. Parsley leaves are easliy dry by washing it well, drain and wipe off the water, place them on racks and dry very slowly in an oven. Then when cooled put them in mason jars and seal or put them in zip locked bags. Also you can do this when the parsley is dried. You can store them either way and the parsley will keep indefinitely in a dried state for future use in many culinary dishes
