How to Use Motivational Cleaning

Motivate to Clean
What's the best way to get something done that you don't want to do?
Create a reward for completing the task!
This is hands-down the best way to meet your goals, cleaning and otherwise. Have your eye on something you really, really want? Turn that into a reward for completing a goal you've been putting off.
There are less expensive awards, which I use since we are in an economy that has taken a downward spin, that are just as satisfying!
Clean the closet, read a book. I have a serious book addiction, eventually I'll have to turn all my books digital to completely clear clutter. After cleaning I love curling up with a good book. Travel to far off lands just by turning the page. I just simply love books!
Finish the laundry, get a manicure. Sometimes doing the laundry can be a draining task, how many other tasks require that many trips up and down the stairs? After a session of laundry I like a session of pampering, like getting my nails done. I personally do not like going to nail salons. I don't like how they smell and I don't like the dremel-like tool that they use. So I began doing my nails at home. You can pamper yourself at home for a fraction of the cost of going to the salon and you won't have to watch the bad talk shows they watch in there either!
Rake the leaves, watch some TV. Matthew and I actually just cancelled our cable and rely only on Netflix, hulu, and the DVDs we already have. I am addicted to Sci-Fi but my favorite show I have ever seen is Battlestar Gallactica. I'm still sad that show is over but I watch it on DVD now, after I've earned it. Doing a more physical task, like raking the leaves, earns a session of relaxing on the couch with some tea and some BSG. Sometimes you really do just need to "veg-out".
I hope that I gave you some ideas to help motivate you into clearing the clutter. Thanks for stopping by!
