The Night Bloomers with Heaven Scent
Not all beautiful plants and vines have a scent in the day. Many have a luring scent at night after the sun goes down. The following list are such plants that really smell delicious as dusk arrives and all can survive 20F. Most are perennial.
Night blooming Jasmine (Cestrum nocturnum)
Moonflower (Ipomoea alba)
Gardenia (Chuck Hayes or Kleims Hardy variety)
Four o' clocks ( Mirabilis jalapa)
Flowering Tobacco (Nicotiana alata)
Devil's trumpet ( Datura meteloides)
Angel Trumpet ( Brugmanisa arborea)
Trumpet and Jasmine have the most delicious scent next to citrus, one never gets tires of it. A word of cause with the Deveil's trumpet, in that, the seeds and some other parts are poisoness, despite the beauty and aroma! Ditto for the Moonflower, which is like a night Morning Glory with a strong scent. This is not the case with Four o' clocks that send a sweet smell off into night air. These flowers have some medicinal value. One plant can have different colors of flowers.
