The Wheeling Civic Garden Center is a wonderful place for gardeners to gather, and has been serving the City of Wheeling for more than seventy years. This page is devoted to the garden center, its history, mission, and how to contact fellow members.
About The Center
The Wheeling Civic Garden Center is one of the oldest civic garden centers in the country. Its history began as one garden club, in Oglebay Park in 1938.
It's present headquarters is surrounded by the Waddington Gardens. Located next to the Oglebay Greenhouse, the Wheeling Civic Garden Center headquarters is a two story brick building that is home of a gift shop, meeting rooms, and horticultural library designed to serve its members and the publicGarden Center and Garden Club related activities are also held there.
The garden club hosts an annual flower show, an herbal program, luncheons, garden workshops, and other horticultural activities. Making the world a better place, one garden at a time is what the Wheeling Civic Garden Center is all about.

Directions: From I-70, take Exit 2-A (Ogolebay Park), turn right onto National Road
Turn Left onto Route 88 (Bethany Pike), and follow Route 88 to Oglebay Park.
Turn Right at the Mansion Museum sign, then immediately Turn Left.
The Garden Center is located adjacent to the Greenhouse and Palm Room, just past the Mansion.

The book was composed and produced by The Wheeling Civic Garden Center and its members. Not only can one find wonderful recipes, one can learn more about the history of the Wheeling Civic Garden Center, too.

The Wheeling Civic Garden Center Gift Shop shop offers flower arrangements, door and wall floral art.

Fresh Ideas In Action - Community Gardening At Its Best
Outside the Civic Center, people in the Wheeling community have joined together to create "Fresh Ideas In Action." The video below describes the "Fresh Ideas In Action" group, and provides those with little knowledge about the city of Wheeling with a look at the gardening community as a whole.
