Recipe: Channa Vada
Channa Vadas Fry
This is good old recipe for vadas which I used to enjoy as a snack since I was kid
Ingrediants
- Channa dal 1 cup (also called Bengal gram or chickpea dal)
- 1 medium size onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp salt
- Chillies 6 (add more if you like very spicy), finely chopped
- Dil 10 branches
- few curry leaves cut in small pieces
- Coriander leaves - 5 branches
- 1/4 tbsp garam masala
- Little bit ginger & garlic paste - optional
- pinch of baking soda
Preparation method
- Soak channa dal for at least 2 hours
- Grind into semi paste (don't grind it into fine paste)
- Cut all veggies and mix everything together, paste should be thick not watery
- Heat cooking oil and make paste into 3 inch round and fry it in oil until golden brown
Enjoy these crunchy vadas with/without chutney. These vadas have never failed to impress guests. I love to make these vadas on a cold/snowy/rainy day and enjoy with chai (tea) or coffee.
