Actors in Harry Potter Movies

One of Rowling's conditions was that the main cast had to be British. Even so, Richard Harris played Dumbledore and he was Irish. The three main characters were unknown actors. Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ronald Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger have been with all of the Harry Potter movies and have signed contracts to finish all of the Harry Potter movies.

Some well-known actors have played parts in Harry Potter movies. They include Alan Rickman as Snape and the aforementioned Richard Harris as Professor Dumbledore. Richard Harris died in 2002 and was replaced by Michael Gambon as Professor Albus Dumbledore.
