How to Make Grandma's Red Velvet Cake and Homemade Icing
Red Velvet Cake
Ingredients
- 1 Stick of Margarine
- 1 Box of Super Moist Yellow Cake Mix
- 1 Package of Instant Chocolate Pudding
- 4 Large Eggs
- 1 C. Water
- 1oz Red Food Coloring
- 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1 TBSP White Vinegar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cream margarine and add cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, water, and food coloring. Beat with a mixer at Medium speed for 3 minutes. Mix vinegar and baking soda and blend into cake mixture. Point into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. When cake has cooled, top with icing and refrigerate.
Icing
Ingredients
- 1 Stick Butter
- 1/2 C. Crisco (canned)
- 2/3 C. Vitamin D Milk
- 1 C. Sugar
- 3 TBSP Flour
- 1 TBSP Vanilla
Blend butter, Crisco, and sugar until well blended. Add flour 1 tablespoon at a time and blend after each one. Add milk and vanilla. Beat by hand for 12 minutes until creamy.
