Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2030

Updated on January 27, 2009

I’ve been sporting a beard look for a long time.  Part of it has to do with my last razor that broke down when it shouldn’t have, and, much to my surprise, I had forgotten to shave with a blade, letting my beard grow out.  I was beginning to look like Jack Shepherd on Lost when he got back to civilization.

When I got a chance to try out Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2030, and I was surprised at the number it did on my face.  I have some before and after pictures to prove it.  I even took the before ones badly, just like all the ads do.

Then I learned that the BG2030 is actually designed for all areas below the neck.  Oh man, did I feel like an idiot.  A clean-shaved idiot, but hey, I used a tool for something it wasn’t originally intended for.  It’s like using a screwdriver for a hammer.  You may be able to pound a nail or two with it, but if you continue to use it in such a fashion, you’ll bust it up.

So what is the Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2030 designed for?  Well, the underarms, chest, legs, back, and some area that I would prefer not to mention.  I suppose that as a reviewer I should really try the BG2030 out everywhere, but I just don’t really want to go that in-depth into research.  Considering what it did on my face, I’m sure it will handle everything else.

However, I can’t deny the results on my face, which is where I needed it.  I found that it charged quickly.  Even though it said it takes about 50 minutes for an eight hour charge, it seemed to take a lot shorter time when that.

The Bodygroom is designed for both wet and dry shaving, and contains some attachments for a little bit of extra trimming power.  An Extra Sensitive trimming comb is designed for the underarms and that one area that I don’t want to talk about, and the Extra Large trimming comb is for the chest, abs, legs, back, and shoulders.

The Bodygroom also has some hypoallergenic shaving foils that give a “close and comfortable shave with less irritation, even in the most sensitive skin and areas”.  The chromium stainless steel blades give an ultra-close shave that requires no maintenance.

In short, the Norelco Bodygroom is a razor designed for those who want to shave…everywhere.  If this is something that is right for you, then you might want to check it out on Amazon for a low price of about $49.99.
