Jaguar XF Production Version

In 2007 and 2008, Jaguar discontinued its S-Type series and stepped into the future with the Jaguar XF . The Jaguar XF represents the latest in Jaguar styling and innovation, and from the introduction of the C-XF concept car unveiled in Detroit 2007, to the production version available in 2008, the XF has been wowing customers and competitors alike.

The XF comes in three model categories, and these categories and their features are laid out below. As is common with Jaguar series, the models are mostly differentiated by engine power, and interior design.

Luxury

Jaguar sets the entry point into its XF range high, and the 'Luxury' name is no misnomer. Coming standard with either a Diesel 2.7 liter V6 engine, or a Petrol 3.0 V6, the basic model comes packed full of performance driving features including a 6 speed electronic automatic transmission, Jaguar sequential shift, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control, Jaguar Drive Control, Electric Parking Brake, Vented Disc Brakes, and variable ratio speed sensitive power steering.

The exterior of the car is no less of a technological dream, boasting automatic halogen headlamps, rain sensing windscreen wipers, and the car runs on 17'' alloy wheels.

The interior is a driver's dream, with a steering wheel featuring Jaguar Sequential Shift paddles, and remote controls for the audio, cruise control, and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

Premium Luxury

Stepping up to the Premium Luxury means having the option of a more powerful 4.2 Liter V8 engine, and 18'' alloy wheels. The interior is also more luxurious, featuring softgrain leather seats and a burr walnut veneer.

SV8

The SV8 lives up to its name with a 4.2 Liter Supercharged V8 engine. Softgrain leather seats, and heated / cooled front seats. It also comes with chunkier 20'' wheels. Optional extras include an advanced Air Climate Control system which filters the air, recirculates it, and allows you to specify different settings for both driver and passenger. You can also have a multimedia system television installed, and a Bowers & Wilkings 440 Watt Surround Sound System.

Safety

All models come with Jaguar's impeccable safety features, including front and side airbags for the driver and passenger, side curtain air bags, ABS braking, front seat whiplash reduction, cornering brake control and front and rear seatbelt pre tensioners. Undoubtedly the piece de resistance of the Jaguar XF safety system, the Pedestrian Contact Sensing system is a state of the art system that seeks to reduce pedestrian injuries in the occurrence of a collision. The system causes the bonnet to pop up a few inches, which cushions the pedestrian from the impact of the engine during a collision.

Conclusion

It is plain to see that Jaguar takes its evolution very seriously, and that the S-Type series did not die in vain. The XF is a masterpiece in many areas, from its high safety values, to near flawless design, no detail has been spared. Nor is the XF just a pretty face, with high performance engines and enough driving features to keep even the most demanding driver enthralled, the Jaguar XF is sure to become a new classic.
