The People Who Missed Christmas
The People Who Missed Christmas
How can we tell that we missed Christmas ? The following people missed the first Christmas . Find out why ?
HEROD:
Herod was the appointed king of Israel during the time of Christ birth. When the wise men arrived to ask for the birthplace of the new born king of the Jews, Herod was greatly disturbed because he became aware of a rival for his throne. He thought of the Christ child as a competitor for the throne . For Herod was drunk of his power and obsessed with his throne. Because of this,he ordered he killing of all boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and below. Herod missed Christmas because of his too much love for his throne representing position, power and prestige as king. He even considered Christ as a rival. Instead of giving Him the worship He alone deserved, herod ordered His killing.
All people who are so much engrossed with their position in their respective fieldwork, and those who are still thirsty for position, those that will resolve to any evil compromise just to maintain or achieve such position are still missing the true spirit of Christmas. The spirit of Christmas means dethroning of the SELF to give way for the coming of the CHRIST as king and master of your heart and life.
THE PRIESTS AND TEACHERS OF RELIGIOUS LAWS:
They had been preoccupied with the activities in the temple that they missed the birth of Christ. People who are busy with their activities and programs even they are ministerial works are missing the true spirit of Christmas. They have been preoccupied so much with their activities that they have no time to spend time alone with God to develop intimacy with Him. One cannot be a true worshipper of God unless he or she is intimate with Him. Even some Christian workers are missing the true spirit of Christmas because they have been preoccupied so much with the works of the ministry rather than the King.
Usually during Christmas season, people are busy shopping, wrapping gifts and other activities associated with Christmas that they truly missed the essence of Christmas. They failed to spend time alone with God and worship Him.
THE INNKEEPER :
The innkeeper reserved no room for Jesus. He reserved rooms only for he rich, noble, well-off, special people, VIPs, distinguished guests. I f only he h ad known who is the child to be born, he would have reserved the best room for Jesus. This world has no room for the lowly, it has rooms only for the strong, mighty and rich. The WORLD with all their lavish festivities of Christmas are still missing the true spirit of Christmas for they have still no room for the CHRIST.
