Vamp your metabolism
Do you feel tired and sluggish, still drained from the long winter? It's time vamp your metabolism and get your body and mind energized. Here are some great ways to give your metabolism a boost.
First here is breif definition of metabolism for those who don't know, what iit is or does...
What is Metabolism?Metabolism is the amount of energy (calories) your body burns to maintain itself. Whether you are eating, drinking, sleeping, cleaning etc... your body is constantly burning calories to keep you going.
Metabolism is affected by your body composition. By body composition, I mean the amount of muscle you have versus the amount of fat. Muscle uses more calories to maintain itself than fat. People who are more muscular (and have a lower percentage of body fat) are said to have a higher metabolism than others that are less muscular. For example, let's say you have two people who are the exact same height and weight. One exercises on a regular basis with weights, in addition to aerobic exercise, and has a low percentage of body fat. The other never exercises and has a higher percentage of body fat. The first person who exercises will have a higher metabolism than the second person. What this basically means is that person #1's body will use more calories to sustain itself than person #2.
Now How to Vamp it up.....
First of all eating breakfast is probably the most important. After your body has pratically fasted all night your metabolism is at stand still. Eating breakfast gives you your morning fuel and it still won't get it going right away. As your breakfast begins digestion that when the magic begis. So eat a healthy breakfast include some protein like dairy, meat or nuts. It takes you body longer to burn which is good for the metabolism, because after all the longer the digestion the more you increase your metabolic rate.
Eat lots of fiber, whole grains and whole fruit, these not only will help your metabolism but they will also give you more energy. Eating smaller meals evenly spaced throughout the day helps too. Eating around six small meals through the day gives your body constant fuel. Eating smaller meals throughout the day will give you a increased metbolism rate several times a day due the induced digestion.
Eating isn't the only thing to help with your metabolic rate, try lifting weights and combining with aerobic training. Strength training burns fat and increase lean muscul which in turn increases your metaolic rate.If you don't already have a regular exercise routine, walking, swimng and ycling are all considered aerobic, they rev you up give you strength and increase lean muscle; And of course speeds up your metabolism, giving you plenty of energy and keeping your body working at a healty level.
