What is Firefox Browser?
Firefox is an open source web browser that is completely free to download and install. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. It is quickly stealing more and more web surfers from Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser. There are several reasons so many are switching to the Firefox browser.
What is Firefox? - Browser Features
Cool features convince many to switch to the Mozilla Firefox browser. Firefox has tabbed browsers which most web surfers love. Each tab has its own close button, but if you accidentally close a tab, no worries. Open the history menu and click on 'Recently Closed Tabs'.
Firefox also has a built-in spell checker. This seems like such an unimportant feature. However, for poor typists or spellers, it is a huge timesaver.
Firefox add-ons are another reason many people switch web browsers. There are many add-ons for Internet Explorer, but they in no way compare to the variety of extensions available for the Mozilla Firefox browser.
What Is Firefox? - Security Features
Security is a very important reason cited by many internet users as the reason that they switched to Mozilla Firefox. Microsoft's Internet Explorer has many security faults. Because the Internet Explorer browser is assimilated with the Microsoft Windows operating system, Internet Explorer has several security problems. It is much easier for hackers to access Internet Explorer than Mozilla Firefox.
Other added security features of Firefox is that Firefox stops most adware or spyware from automatically installing when visiting an offending website. Firefox also blocks most popups automatically. Firefox also has automatic updates. These updates are very quick to download, usually just a few seconds.
The Firefox browser offers automatic protection from possible phishers. Phishing is the term for websites that replicate well-known websites in an attempt to obtain personal information, such as credit card information. If Firefox suspects a website is phishing, it will automatically warn you.
