With all the pessimism in the air, are you optimistic about your prospects for 2011?
I'm optimistic that 2011 will be a good year, and I'm going to do everything in my power to make it better than 2010. With all the doom and gloom, I'm trying to take positives out of all the negatives. For example, petrol prices are about to go up with the fuel duty and VAT rises. What does this mean? I will use my car for essentials and I'm going to use my bike and walk more. A win-win situation. I save money, less wear and tear on my car, I get fitter and a smaller carbon footprint! The only loser I fear is the government who may actually lose revenue as others follow suit.
I feel optimistic about 2011, but along lines similar to yours. I am learning to live a simpler life, with less commercialism, and spending less money. Instead, I am working on paying down my debt and learning to live without so many material things.
The world is not exactly doing great, and I think things may get worse before they get better. But that doesn't mean I can't have a good year by concentrating on what is good for me, and making progress toward goals that will make my life better regardless of what goes on in the world.
Happy New Year!
I'm with Smaridge01! My family and I have chosen to do things a lot more simple in 2011. Less spending and taking more time for ourselves. It does not make sense to run yourself to the ground and have nothing that you can recall enjoying. So no more running ourselves into the ground and more spending time together as a family.
Optimistic and realistic.
I see 2011 as being a year of constant confrontation, especially in the UK, as there have been too many changes that will affect everyone coming into play.
People can only take so much for so long before they say 'enough is enough' - VAT increase/Welfare Reforms/Student Fees - 2011 will be a difficult year on the back of 2010 but I see 2012 being a better year if common sense prevails in the coming 12 months.
Best wishes to all in 2011

After watching my earnings tank in October, I have seen a slow increase in views this last week. I have made payout every month since March but was thinking of moving my Hubs after the latest Panda update. Is anyone else experiencing a rebound this last week?
