Dangerous Liasons

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, June 2, 2014. Our dear friend, Wasp Tevya, is here with me at the breakfast table. He can hardly contain himself. His outrage upon learning that the Obama White House traded five maniacal GITMO terrorists for an American soldier with a rather strange story has sent shock waves through his delicate nervous system. Tevya expects that most Americans will feel the same way when they hear about the circumstances of this very bad and ill-advised deal. Tevya has asked for the pleasure of your company at breakfast. He is providing coffee and danish. Won't you join him?

You're Free to Go

Five savage and highly placed terrorists are free to plan, regroup and kill again thanks to a prisoner exchange with the Taliban. The Taliban called all the shots. The Taliban hand-picked the prisoners they wanted released. The Taliban chose the most important and most dangerous prisoners held in GITMO and the Obama White House bowed to their wishes. This is the same White House that allowed four men to be savagely murdered in Benghazi. This is the same White House that told assets in the area to stand down. This is the same White House that signed the Benghazi death warrants and lied to the families of the victims and the American people.

The Obama White House apparently thinks it is acting on the side of justice in submitting to the demands of the Taliban in order to secure the release of an American soldier. This isn't just any American soldier. This is Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl who walked off a base in Afghanistan in 2009. He fell into the hands of the Taliban and has remained with them ever since. The Taliban always claimed that Sgt. Bergdahl converted to Islam and taught his newfound friends bomb making techniques. They also claimed that he changed his name to Abdullah. The mainstream media slept through the story and the administration dismissed the claims. Having heard Bergdahl's father speak at a press conference at the White House, I believe the Taliban was right on the money. The soldier's father began the news conference in Arabic. He began with a message to his son that went like this, " In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful."

So let's recap here for a moment. The Obama White House traded five dangerous terrorists for one American soldier who walked off his base in Afghanistan into the welcoming arms of the enemy. During his "captivity" his family spent their time on Twitter, tweeting all manner of anti-American and pro-Islamist feelings. The father made it quite clear that he was working to free all captives on all sides of the conflict. In this case, the White House may have switched things up a bit by releasing men on the same side of the conflict.

Paradise Found

The five GITMO detainees will be transferred to Qatar where they will remain for a while. No doubt they will be relaxing in the sun and making new plans for the exciting life ahead of them. These men are violent and vicious. This bug has no doubt that we will be hearing about them one way or the other very soon.

I imagine the MSM will make much of the release of our American soldier. I doubt they will ask the questions that must be asked. Who exactly is Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl? Why did he violate strict orders and walk off the base? Why did the Taliban keep him alive all these years? Were they telling the truth when they reported that he had converted to Islam? Why is his father doing a spot on imitation of a long bearded devotee of Allah?

In any case, we made a bad deal that has set a dangerous precedent. President Obama has made yet another "change" to our way of life and national character. Now we negotiate with terrorists, thus making our soldiers fair game for kidnappers. I can only suppose that GITMO will soon be empty, not because President Obama closed it down, but because the Taliban did.

A Swimmingly Bad Ending

The five GITMO terrorists will be swimming and relaxing poolside in Qatar biding their time until they are welcomed back with open arms by their Taliban comrades. We are going to pay a very heft price for releasing them. Nothing about this exchange makes any sense. In fact the whole thing stinks. Would someone please explain to me what President Obama is doing? Would somebody please explain to me why our system of checks and balances isn't working?

Tevya's Song

Dear God, you made so many politicians

I suppose it's no great shame to be a politician

But it's no great honor either!
