Buzzy is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, February 5, 2015. Our dear friend, Fly Buzzy, is joining us today at the breakfast table. He has been here, there and everywhere and he has some strange news that he has gathered on his "fly-bys." Please join us this morning. Buzzy is serving breakfast sausages and scrambled eggs.

Crazy is as Crazy Does

Thank you all for joining me this morning. I have been out and about fulfilling my responsibilities as the Proverbial Fly on the Wall. Sit back and relax and get up to date on the insanity that seems to have permeated our day to day life. Let's begin with the incredible decision on behalf of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement department to guarantee that transgender individuals held in immigration detention will receive hormone therapy. Kevin Landy, assistant director of the ICE office of detention policy and planning wants to assure all American citizens that ICE remains very vigilant on the issue. I know you will all sleep better tonight. I remember when the word "illegal" actually meant illegal. Do you?

Only in America

Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep School in California celebrated 'Hijab Day" during which female students were encouraged to wear Islamic headdresses as a sign of modesty. Principal Tom Rutten was supportive of the event and said, unbelievably, that it would provide students with the opportunity to learn how to wear headscarves properly. What's next, learning how to pack and wear a suicide bomb? Sometimes it is very clear to me, that humans are their own worst enemy.

A Morally Incorrect Monument

Saint Louis University has commissioned a sculpture to be erected on campus. If you are thinking that it might be a statue of one of the Founding Fathers, think again. The sculpture is being created to honor and capture the spirit and importance of "Occupy SLU." The protest held last fall on campus reacted to oppression, racism, racial profiling and police tactics. A protest group refused to leave the campus in protest to the Michael Brown shooting. The protest group flew the American flag upside down and gave rousing speeches about white supremacy and systematic oppression. Protesting is one thing, but creating a statue in memory of those hideous riots and attacks on the police is entirely disgusting.

You Can Call Me Al

School Staffers at the City University of New York are being encouraged to stop using "Mr." and "Mrs." when addressing their students. The school is trying to promote a respectful and gender-inclusive environment. Why a teacher would address a student as "Mrs" when they don't know if they are married is beyond me. Having said that the objection seems to have more to do with gender than marital staus. I may have to go back to college to understand this!

Imagination is Bad!

A Texas school has suspended a 9 year old boy for playing make believe. The child pretended to possess the "magical ring to rule them all" while playing at school. He was inspired by the movie The Hobbitt :Battle of the Five Armies. Of course the ring didn't exist, but even so the child was suspended for telling another child that he could make him disappear. I can only suppose the adults at the school believed in the magical ring and were frightened. Just knowing that people like this are in charge of our nation's children while at school really scares me to death.

8th Grader Arested

This next incident is so insane that you might want to take a breath and try a relaxation technique. An 8th grader attending school in the Amarillo Independent School District in Texas was slammed to the ground by the police, arrested and held in detention overnight. His crime was the wearing of rosary beads to a football game in memory of his dead brother. The boy, Jacob Herrera, was injured in the encounter and had to be taken to the hospital. Apparently, poor Jacob did not ask the school principal for permission to wear the rosary beads which violates the schools rules and the First Amendment. When hearing about this outrageous incident, I was left gasping for air just like Jacob.

Last But Not Least

Let's top off this display of insanity by reporting that a tenured professor at Metropolitan State University in Denver required his students to pledge their allegiance to a racist, sexist, homophobic America that targets blacks and women who want abortions in the name of Jesus. The professor is Dr. Charles Angeletti. He is a self-proclamed atheist and socialist. Parents actually pay tuition to have their children brainwashed. Down with tenure!

Be Careful Out There

All I have to say is that people who make these kinds of decisions are out there walking among us. Be alert and while you are looking for suspicious packages, look for people who are just this side of insane.

Buzzy's Song

Fly me to the moon

And let me live where I am free

Things are so ugly now

I fear we're up a tree!
