DANGER: Al-Qaeda Still Has Many Allies from Kabul to Kashmir
The area from Afghanistan to Kashmir is littered with many jihadists bent on spreading the Taliban fundamentalism and extremism. Who are they?
- Quetta Shura Taliban
- Haqqani Network
- Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin (HiG)
- Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan
- Lashkar-e-Taiba
- Jaish-e-Mohammed
The first three groups have over 1000 fighters, the latter groups are even larger. They want to kill those who oppose their goal and all want to create the Taliban-like totalitarian regime. They despise Western anything, Jews, Hindus, Shiites. Of the first three, the second and third groups are focused on taking Afghanistan. The Pakistani Taliban want to seize Islamabad, while the last two want Kashmir for their kingdom. That is where India comes into the fray. Only al-Qaeda continues to view the world as its target. With the help of Pakistan's ISI, the groups have grown.
Once America exits from Afghanistan, the full brunt of the Taliban will pour onto Karzai's inept and corrupt government. It will collapse at some point, just as the South Vietnamese did when America left and the North began their offensive. America is praying that history does not repeat again with an Afghan security force that can stand without Americans backing them up. So far, this simply has not happened. Between the Afghan Army and Poilce, the Army looks like their up to the task, but that is dangerous thinking because both are no better than the South Vietnamese were after 10 years of training and millions tossed their way. Once the US left and the North attacked, the South collapsed within a month.
