I adore the act of giving and philanthropy is a part of my life. One good deed begat's another. Pass on the help.

Help Me

Help me; words many people have heard coming from people in need of some sort of support. But what do these words actually mean? Why would anyone need help from someone else? Why can't they simply help themselves? The truth is that we are all humans who do not have much control over our own lives as we think we do. Don't believe me? Well, tell me something, have you ever been disappointed? Have you ever been ill? Have you ever been to a job interview and did your best yet still not chosen for that job? Have something ever fallen from you? Have you ever fallen? These questions I ask are merely highlighting the fragility of mankind and the fact that we are not in control of our own lives. If we were, things that happen to us that we wish did not would have never happened. We all fall short, and we all need help at some point or another. There are people out there who are just hoping that some good human being will come along one day and simply extend a helping hand. A helping hand which will give them back that bounce in life. Let us look at some ways in which people will need help and support from others.

Help To Overcome Addiction

When people hear the words addiction, immediately drugs comes to mind. But we have to actually look at what the meaning of addiction and the various things people can become addicted to. Addiction is being overly committed to a substance or activity, where that extreme commitment may lead to endangerment of self or other people. With that said, we can then assume that people can be addicted to anything. But one of the worst type of addiction is the one where people become hooked on drugs and alcohol. There are millions of people today who are considered substance abusers who cry out for help everyday. Many will get help from open rehab centers to overcome their addiction. While still being supported by close family members and friends. Helping someone with these type of addiction can be tough and sometimes heart breaking. But you will just have to stand strong and see that help through.

Financial Help

We are living in tough times. The society is spending some really tough nickle and many people are catching straws to get by daily. Having some one help you out financially is like winning the lottery, no matter how small that financial aid is. But despite having a very tough economy and every nickle being earned is a tough one, there are still some good humans living on earth that will help others when they are down on their luck. People help out others financially by doing the following;

Help Paying Bills

  • Bills always seem to be much more than salary earned these days. Many working class people find it quite difficult to pay their bills with the current salaries they receive. Some people actually try to hold down two to three jobs just to get by, and even with that, the bills are still demanding and stressful. Many people have had that Financial angel every once in a while when they need it the most who will give money to help with balancing those ever blossoming bills.

Help Buying Food

  • Food is a must for humans to stay alive. Doesn't matter if you are a meat lover or a plant eater or both. Your body needs nutrients to keep functional. But not all people have the luxury of hopping into a burger joint and popping out five dollars and get a meal for a day. Many homeless people go without eating a single meal for days. But there are always good people around who will help these people to buy food. But many people will prefer to buy food and give to a beggar because they believe that most homeless people are drug addicts who will use the cash on more drugs. Yes, there are a mix of drug addicts among the homeless, but many homeless people genuinely just want a hot meal, a job and just want to be off the streets.

Help With A Roof Over Their Heads

  • There are many of us who live in posh areas and aren't accustomed to seeing many homeless people on the streets. These people have fallen on really tough times and all it takes for a few to bounce back on their feet is a helping hand. People just don't throw away their jobs and give up their dwellings to come begging for food on the streets. The harsh circumstances of life have put them there. And the sad part is, more people will join the ranks of the homeless. You can help at least one homeless person today by simply speaking to them and hearing their story. Sometimes it just takes a simple phone call to put someone's life back on track.

Mental Help

Life to many of us is so taken for granted and many times we don't stop to appreciate the fact that we are whole. We are whole physically, mentally and for a few, spiritually. But just as unpredictable as life is, many people have suffered and many are suffering from mental disorders. These include, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Dementia, Narcissistic, racism, madness, shock and many others. People who are going through mental challenges do need a special kind of help and care to allow them to be more comfortable going through their daily lives. This help comes in the form of medical treatments, natural treatments, and of course strong understanding, love and support from everyone around them. You see, a cut will heal, but many times a broken mind will last forever. That is why special help, care and and patience must always be given to individuals with these special needs.

Helping The Elderly

One of the most graceful act is to give help to those who have paved the way for us and to see to it that they spend the remaining years of their golden lives comfortable. One of the most disgusting things to see is people who abuse and disrespect the elderly. The sad thing about people who abuse the elderly is that they themselves need help because they do have a mental disorder. The elderly are our golden people and the work and sweat they put in has made many of us who we are today and for that no amount of thank you is enough. Many of the elder folks are abandoned by sons and daughters and the most hurtful thing is that these golden agers sometimes find themselves homeless on the streets foraging for food. The greatest gift any one can give to one of these elders in need is a helping hand.

Helping The War Veterans

War; a term belted out by crazy world leaders who recruit the sons and daughters of men to be sacrificed for some policy. When the government recruits millions of people to go fight war for them, hundreds of thousands of them will die and hundreds of thousands of them will return to their country maimed. Many will return with psychological disorders because of the aggression of warfare. The saddest thing is that when most of these war veterans return home they have nothing to look forward to. Many are struggling to get physio therapy and mental help. Thousands upon thousands hustle just to find food to eat daily. Then the government will boast of winning the war on some third world nation and then tell these war veterans that "We Thank You For your Service" My good friend Mr. Government, these soldiers need much more than thank you. Thank you cannot pay for medication, thank you cannot replace a leg, thank you cannot provide shelter. I implore you, if you know a war veteran living near you. Give them some help if they need it. God knows that most of them do.

Can You Help Me?

Many of us need some form of help but the monster called pride grabs our voice box when the thought of asking for it emerges. But until we realize that pride is a killer and hiding behind it only makes you a coward, we will never get the help we want and we will never be able to provide help for others. I have started an initiative in my own community called the Jar of Kindness. Where i save up coins in my empty coffee bottle and then find some random person to give that full Jar of coins to. Can you imagine if a thousand people gave away a jar of kindness today? A thousand people would receive even a glimpse of happiness. I have helped many people in the past, in the present and will continue doing so. But my question I leave with you is, will you help someone today?
